Lol. I don’t know about “1950’s” but my favorite diner is the Gracie Mews on the UES. It’s very authentic “diner” if that’s what you want. Big Daddy’s has a few locations and is 80’s themed. They have great food and a fun atmosphere. The COffee Shop Union Sq might be the most 1950s-esque. http://nymag.com/listings/restaurant/coffee-shop/

Not really 1950’s themed, but I love Jackson Hole… there are several locations in Manhattan and 2 in Queens.
