I’ve tried them in the Michigan area, and am never impressed with their make up. It doesn’t have real staying power and fades very quickly.

same here, i’ve tried them in my area but not satisfied. they dont have a lot of color range options (in my opinion). and yeah it wasn’t really heavy enough for a wedding makeup. it fades very quickly for me, too.

I went to an aveda salon in the north bay for my hair trial and was happy with the experience – I felt the stylist really paid attention, was happy that I came prepared with inspiration pics and after chatting a bit, whipped up something great.  The hair fell out a bit later than night, but my layered hair was a bit short and it was beastly hot, so I’m not faulting the stylist.  My trial was way early and the stylist did warn me about the wispies, showing me how to trouble shoot and arming me with bobby pins.  🙂  She did say that my hair would be just fine in length for the style we chose when the wedding came around.

I don’t have any experience with the make-up though.

Aveda make-up = washed out look… I did not enjoy the experience what so ever.

If your in the Bay Area, I would go to S.F.I.E.C. its a Paul Mitchell Beauty School. It a very high end beauty school! I went to get my esthetics license and we did makeup and hair. Its a great deal and they have great stylists and artists!  I know they have one in the city on Folsom, and I think there is a new school there in Oakland! Give them a call, they specialize in Bridal makeup and hair, they even have packages and will go to your venue with a crew! I’m not exactly sure how much it is, but I’m sure its alot cheaper than hiring a pro makeup artist and pro stylist to go to your venue! They’ll of course do an extensive makeup run as well. Hope this helps!

i’ve been to aveda salon on Santana Row for facials, but never for hair and makeup. I’ve read reviews for trial hair and makeup and they said the makeup doesn’t last all day, so I wouldn’t go with them for makeup. I heard this person is good, but i’m not sure how pricing is for her service:
