Neither my fiancee or I have been in / involved in many weddings so we’re having a hard time figuring out what is “reasonable” or “average” for a few things, but right now the main concern is dresses for the bridesmaids. Some of our party members are unemployeed or are saving for big things in their lives such as their own wedding. Most of the places I’ve looked for dresses are around the $100 range which is more than I’ve ever spent on a single dress.
- If you’ve been a Bridesmaid or Best Man, what have you paid for your dress?
- What have you asked your party to pay for their dresses? Or I guess, what was the price of dresses you asked your BMs to get?
I know mismatched dresses can be quite lovely but I’m not sure I’ll be able to let go and trust it will look great on the day as the group will not be getting together before then (coming from all over the country)

I have been a bridesmaid 5 times and all of the dresses have been in the $150 – $170 range.

Before I answer your questions, my best recommendation is to ask your bridal party (individually and not via a group text) what their budget is!
As a member of other people’s wedding parties, my dress has typically cost between $150-200.
The dress I chose for my bridesmaids is ~$80, and they got free shipping.
An option for mix-and-match dresses is to put together a board of dresses that you’ve preselected in your color(s), and have your girls choose from those.

I ordered two differnt dresses for different weddings this year and I paid 240 and 260.

I would say average is about $150-200..The dress I bought last year for my cousin’s wedding was around $170 if I’m not mistaken, but the dress my girls and I picked for my wedding was $200 with 15% off.

I let the girls choose their dresses and they all chose the same one, $169.

My girls’ dresses after tax were $150 from David’s Bridal- we went on a weekend that was $20 off so that took care of the tax, which was nice.

I let all my bridesmaids pick thier dresses so that everyone could fit it into thier budgets. No one paid more than $70.
I spent $50 on the bridesmaid dress for my friends wedding coming up in June. I got it on clearance from Davids Bridal. I spent $100 for the bridesmaid dress I wore for my brother’s wedding.

My girl’s dresses are about $40 from Etsy. Try looking for dresses not labeled as Bridesmaid or Best Man. Just nice dresses in department stores or on Etsy.

- Wedding: December 2017 - Lake Louise Canada
I gave a color and length expectation and offered to pay once they’d chosen. The ones they like so far are around $100.

I let them choose and they all picked the Versa dress from DB…$250.

You need to ask your party what they are comfortable paying.
I balked at paying $150 for my girls dresses, I wanted to pay less, but they were the only dress I really liked in the color I liked. I picked up the tab for them because they are coming from different states for my wedding.
I don’t think I would pay over $120.

I’ve paid 150, 180, and the most recent one the bride told us we could pay whatever we were comfortable with for the $250 dress she chose, and I told her I would pay 180. Found out she called me cheap, probably not being in her wedding anymore. But anyways…
