I’ve been a bridesmaid 4 times, and prices ranged from $100 to $250, including alterations. My BMs had the option of two dresses, both were short and didn’t need alterations, and I think they were about $120 from DB.

I’ve paid between $60-$240 for dresses when I’ve been a Bridesmaid or Best Man, but most have been around $120.

I only had a Maid/Matron of Honor and her dress was $125, but I paid for it.

I paid for all of my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses and they were $170 before alterations. It’s been a few years since I’ve been a bridesmaid but I remember the dresses for both times being in the $100-$150 range. Are you looking for short or long dresses? You’ll have better luck finding more inexpensive short dresses.

My bridesmaids are wearing $140 long dresses from David’s Bridal. I chose the color and specified non-satin, and they chose the dress. I originally wanted them in short dresses because they were cheaper, but they wanted long ones. They’ll have to get it hemmed.

The dresses I wore as a bridesmaid were $120 and $150 (both short). I didn’t need alterations.

The first two times I don’t remember exactly. The J Crew one was more expensive but free returns and no alterations (maybe $200). The David’s Bridal was cheaper $160-175 but required alterations.

Most recent bridesmaid experiences. $300 -350 not including alterations. (and the least flattering of ALL the dresses ironically).

Most recently, $165 marked down to $145 which was the most inexpensive of all my experiences.

Mine were $200 and $220 for my own wedding. (Honestly wish I shopped around more to be honest ; it seems like a lot in retrospect, although not the most I’ve seen).

My three bridesmaids spent just over $200 each on their dresses at David’s. I picked a colour and fabric, then told them to pick their own style.

I just bought a Maid/Matron of Honor dress from a local boutique last week for $175. The other bridesmaid bought a dress that was about $160, I think. We were told to pick ANY pastel colour, any fabric, any style… it was actually a really difficult task, haha. The bride is almost TOO chill about this stuff.

That said, I’ve seen plenty of dresses in the $75-$150 range, both at David’s and at smaller stores. We just all happened to choose slightly pricier dresses.

My bridesmaids wore $60 dresses from Dressbarn (almost bought one myself!). I was in a wedding last summer where we wore $140 dresses from David’s Bridal. They’re wear-again-able, but more than I hoped to pay. 😛
Now I’m a bridesmaid in a wedding coming up this summer and we’re desperately scouring everywhere to find something $100 or less! (So if you know of any reliable places/sites to order violet dresses in chiffon, lace, floor- or knee-length, please pass it on!)

I paid over $200 for both of mine. Actually they were into the $250 range really.

All my girls were $200 to $300 max, but they all picked their own dresses so really I didn’t have much say in the price of the dress (did I have final approval yes, but as long as it wasn’t against my rules I didn’t say no, it worked very well)

Bridesmaid or Best Man four times with one dress at about $55 and the other three at $200 before alterations and two required shoes on top of that. My BMs picked their dress and spent about $180.

The most important thing is what your BMs can afford. As others suggested, take a look at department stores for dresses. The dress I got for $55 was from JC Penny’s and I thought it looked just as good as the more espensive ones.

I tried to keep it under $200 for my Bridesmaid or Best Man. The cheaper the better. I think the most anyone paid was $170 something after tax. One found hers on clearance for $70.

Oh and the last wedding I was in mine was $100. The bride found everyone sizes in a dress she liked on clearance at a White and Black store. It really was a cute lil black dress that I wore again too. Bonus!

My Bridesmaid or Best Man all wore the same dress that cost $175 (w/tax). I got them on a great sale, originally they cost $540 each before tax.

Next month I’ll be in a friend’s wedding, she gave us a color and let us pick our own dresses. My dress cost $160, down from $400ish.

My Maid/Matron of Honor dress was $270 + alterations, and since it was the first wedding I was in, I wasn’t really upset about it at all. For my 4 girls, I chose 4 different beaded/sequin champagne colored gowns, from department stores that retailed for $200-400, and one I got for free (perks of working in corporate retail). So with the sales and free dress, I just split the costs evenly among them and each girl paid $105.

I also agree that you need to discuss a budget with each of your bridesmaids privately. Ask them how much they are comfortable spending on a dress, then choose one that falls within the lowest range (ie if 2 are happy to pay $200 but 1 doesn’t want to spend more than $150, the dress you pick should be $150 at the most).

My bridesmaids dresses cost AUD$115 each, but I paid for them (they were on sale and we ordered them all together to take advantage of free shipping).
