I am trying to determine my budget for flowers, I don’t want anything crazy and over the top. I would like elegant and simple flowers, but I have 9 bridesmaids and 7 groomsmen, so I know I the number of bouquets and boutonnieres will bring up the cost.
How much are you spending on flowers?

I think it depends a lot on which flowers you choose for the bouquets. Also do you plan on using flowers in your centerpieces?

… it will probably cost more than you expect it to…

I have 9 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen (I’m in Philly, but my guess is that prices aren’t too different) I’m in the 3-5K range, and I didn’t sacrifice anything I wanted!

I, too, live in Jersey. I haven’t gone to any florists yet (it’s on my to do list and soon!) but my bridesmaid works for floral at ShopRite. Even though it’s not the same as a florist she has a good idea of what I should be paying. It definitely depends on what kind of flowers you want. Some flowers are easier to come by especially based on season. If you want a flower that is out of season, it’s going to be more expensive. Boutonnieres are relatively inexpensive. They’ll get you on the bouquets and if you’re using floral centerpieces as well as flowers for the ceremony. In my case, I’m only ordering bouquets, boutonnieres, and wristlets. I’m making my own centerpieces. =)

I ended up doing my flowers through a free lancer. He works directly for the whole sale florist place, so his costs are lower than the average florist who owns a small shop. He specializes in weddings, so I was able to see many examples of his work, and he had many good recs. If you want his info – you can message me. Very reasonable in terms of pricing. Paramus, NJ area. I just don’t want to post his info without his consent, since it’s a freelance business.

Thanks for all your help! I’m not really picky with flowers, so I will be fine using whatever is in season, but I know I will need a lot for bouquets and centerpieces, so I think it will be ok to budget $5000.

Sobosam: Hi, Sobosam, the guy that you found in Paramus sounds exactly like what I am looking for. Can you send his contact information along? I would greatly appreciate it!
