My first wedding was in Saratoga! But this was back in 2004… I am still dreaming of that cake from A Piece of Cake in Santa Clara ….so good…. it was 5.50pp and I would pay more than that to have them again.
I am also super into Susie Cakes marble cake. I am drooling just thinking about it hahaha
Best of luck on th cake hunt!

I’m amazed too, it doesn’t seem possible from a 9inch cake. I had to look that up. A 10″ inch cake will yield 42 bite sized pieces 1″×2″ (see diagram at bottom). A smaller 9 inch cake cut for 60 people would be 1 inch x1 inch bites maybe. Your cake looked very pretty!
I guess I’m just a pig because when I think of a slice of cake I think this size, which would explain the extra 10lbs I have lol:

I have never seen a diagram like that before. Wow wow wow. Who knew!? My day is now complete since I learned something new. Haha

lol there’s tons of directions out there to cut any shape, size cake! I would be trying to get the largest bite on the one above (there’s a few larger bite cuts if you notice) Lol!
OP, have you considered going to a regular bakery and asking for a 3 tierred cake and cutting it yourself? It’s what we did. They will allow you to customize it/topper etc. It’s much cheaper, beautiful and everyone can get a regular sized slice. Buying it by the (tiny) serving and having them cut it seems to be ridiculously expensive.

Have u looked into people who make cakes from home as we got our wedding cake from a baker who makes them out of her house and it cost us $400 for a 3 tier, 3 flavour semi naked cake including topper and delivery. The cake was amazing and the best part of our wedding meal, like others have said I used fresh flowers that matched the wedding flowers for the cake which cost an additional $50.

I got quoted just $525 to feed 150 people. That includes a 2 tier cake and a full sheet cake. Comes out to $3.50 per person.

OMG! I don’t like marble cake and fell in love with theirs!

For my baby shower we had 100+ guests and local bakeries in NYC that did event cakes and they quoted me $11 per person for a naked cake! What!? Um no. I know a lot of people who spend 1200-1500 on a cake but I didn’t want to. My SO and family members found an at home baker who made a gorgeous and delicious cake for us for $350! (Grandma added the lollypops in before cutting at the end for a symbolic reason)

Bay Area also – my buttercream rum cake was $1,100 for a cake to feed 120 people plus an extra half sheet (which we thought would give us leftovers and was devoured instead).

Ours cost $460 USD for 10 inch, 8 inch and 6inch. It was buttercream. I bought the topper online & my sister made the sugared flowers for us. It was a huge cake.

Ours was £500, it served 100 guests, plus we had the whole top tier and quite a bit of additional cake to take home. I think we could have gone with two layers, actually, but I decided that when it came to cake, it was better to have too much!

I live in the midwest… Mine was only about 3.50/slice.
I am glad I didn’t have to go with fondant – apparently the buttercream will look just as nice! Ours will be about $215 total for 60 people – 2-tier cake, plus cupcakes.
You can also save money by having a “behind the scenes” sheet cake (extra cake that isn’t part of your “display” cake)

I’m paying $350 for a three tier wedding cake and a sheet grooms cake. Together they will feed 100. I’m in the South US.
