soooo this mostly involves NYC and any metro area I guess of a major city.
I found a make-up artist i LOVE….problem is her trial cost doesn’t go toward the day of cost…and they both cost the same!
$135 for the trial (she’s coming from NYC to my area an hour north)
$135 for the day of for the bride, and $95 for the girls.
Her portfolio and reviews are amazing, and I’m SO picky with make-up…fiance says to just do it, and he’ll even pay for trial…but his money is my money and I can’t bare to let him pay for it!
Does this sound resonable? 1/2 of me says do it…the other 1/2 says keep looking…but everyone else is….meh….

Are you “SOLD” on this lady? Are you being too “frugal?” Personally. Me being from the outter NYC borrows…I expect to pay a little over 100 for day of…but I really wouldn’t pat the SAME amount for just the trial…I mean…is she auditioning for you or are you auditioning for her? ya dig?
But If you are certain you can get no one better then this chick…fork it ova

@Sapphire-Dreamer: That’s how I feel exactly! What if I don’t like her? (I feel like I will) but WHAT IF i don’t?? Why does she ask the same amount for the day of?!?!?
uhk…if it was like 90 for the trial or something like that…I’d be more inclined because she seems reasonable…
I actually got a price quote from one other person who’s work fit my picky standards and she had weird “EXTRAS” like paying for a chair, or a certain light….and travel costs weren’t included in her already over $100 price per bride….it was weird

I’ve only tried out 2 make-up artists.. one from NYC and one from northern NJ and they both charged around $125-150 for the hair AND make-up trial. Yours sounds expensive for JUST a make-up trial, but the day-of charges seem pretty standard.
The NYC artist I tried charges $150 for bride make-up on day of wedding.. and $110 for BMs
For hair AND make-up it’s $250 for bride and $200 for each Bridesmaid or Best Man
The prices are ridiculous around here for these services, IMO.. but I had to suck it up and pick the artist I liked too. I picked the one from NJ. She charges similar fees. FI said to just go with it.
If you really like yours.. since your artist also has great reviews and chimes well with your picky tastes, I’d say book it! It costs more in the long-run to have more trials with different make-up artists who may just disappoint you.

That sounds reasonable for NYC. I paid $350 for hair and makeup and $200 for the trial.
For makeup only, my MUA charges $225 for the bride and $90 for each attendant/MOB.

Wow thank you so much girls! I think I will give her a try! Did you wait until you were tan to get your makeup done (I plan on being tan, which i’m not right now but usually am!) and did you dye your hair to how you wanted it for the day of?

@BellaDee: I would dye my hair 24-48 hours before and DEEP CONDITION just to account for any same-day hair disasters that may happen!

I’m getting married on Jan 12th and I’m in NYC. I want to get my makeup done professionally – would it be possible for you to post the names of the makeup artists (or forward to me) that you are using or trying out? I’d really appreciate it! Thanks!
