Averages are really misleading.  I think what you mean is median.

I live in a really economically diverse area.  Within a mile of my neighborhood (of townhomes that start at 300K, and largely house recent college grads, young married couple, and couples who have one child) are neighborhoods typically associated with abject poverty. Lots of women in my neighborhood have 3/4 of a carat up to about 1.5.  I do occasionally see 2 carats in the local Starbucks.  About 10 miles away in the suburbs you’ll see 2-3 (usually an upgrade, as they move out of my current neighborhood to the suburbs) but you’ll also see much more modest stones.  In the less affluent neighborhoods around me there are lots of women with cluster rings or plain bands or rings with CZs.

I’m in TN. The average for the upper 20s/30s if close to 1 ct. the girls who got married under 25 are closer to 1/2 ct. over 40 they are typically 1.5-2 ct & many have upgraded to larger.

I live in London and I’d say the norm seems to be under a carat. I have seen almost 2 but then it depends on social circles of course! Some people here I’m sure have amazing rocks on their fingers!

I suppose most women here (generalising) get married a little older so they will have large diamonds when they get engaged. I was 26 when I got engaged and the first to do so out of my friendship group. I wonder if the size of the diamond is often related to the average age women get engaged in a particular area? 🤔

South Australia. I would think 0.3 to 0.5 would be average. I only know a handful of people in my circles who have over a carat.

Rural Southern Indiana here and stones typically stick around the .3-.5 range. I live in a very small farming community so I hardly ever see anything outside of the typical >.5 ct solitaire.

I live in Chicago, near downtown.  I’d say the women in my circle (all upper-middle to upper class) have diamonds ranging from 1.25 to about 2.5.

I must not be a flashy group, most of the people I know engineers and others who make good money the size ranges from 0.5-1 ct.

JujuBay :  I’m from Southern OC too! I agree I haven’t seen anyone with under a carat yet. Some are closer to 2!

Currently I am living right outside of DC but I am originally from New Jersey/Philadelphia area.  It’s always been funny to me because people barely bat an eye at my ring here in DC, but whenever I visit home people always make sure to mention it and ask a ton of questions.  In the 2 years Iv’e been in DC I don’t think anyone has mentioned it at all.  For referenece, my ring is just over 2 carats so not overly big or small for the two regions.  Personally, I think it is more about the regional cultural divide more than anything else.

I’m from Toronto (currently living in the UK) in Toronto I think under 1 carat is the average. In the UK not too many people have diamonds, most that do don’t have very large ones. However since I’ve moved to London I have seen many more women wearing some big rocks.

I’m living in DC and I’ve seen articles say that about 1.5 is what most people are asking jewelers for.
