we are spending around $30k NZ and I am quite horrifed by that. That is for a Destination Wedding and includes flights, honeymoon, wedding rings etc but not engagement ring which was bought 2 years ago.

Woah! Here in SC the average wedding I think is about 20,000, at least that’s what most of the coordinators have been telling me. My budget is 15,000

Ooo when you say it includes engagement ring and honeymoon it became slightly less horrifying to me. Still, to think of that much money being used for one event!!

it isn’t that shocking to me, the venue we might have for the reception would be $17,000 (including food and drinks) everything is really expensive!

That calculator thing online said $28k is the average for seattle. Including rings (not e-ring) and honeymoon, we’re at $18k. I don’t think our wedding will come off as budget, but I’m skipping some details that I dont care about (limo, expensive dress, DJ/MC). Now that I’m into this I think most local weddings I’ve been to have been in the $30-40k range.

Not terribly surprised, since those are big cities. Average for NY is 37,037 and we are right around there. Right now our wedding budget is at $37,000 (aprx 140 guests), and our combined income is 116,000. If I include engagement ring & honeymoon we will be at about $46,000.
