Hey bees! I’m just starting to look into DJs for our reception and got a few estimates. I know this question has been asked, but couldn’t find it asked recently so wanted to get some more up-to-date opinions/quotes. How much did some of you pay/what are you paying for your DJs? Would you recommend them? Did they charge by the hour or was it a flat rate? Thanks so much!

I’d be interested to know as well, as I am eager to find the right DJ! The quotes I’ve gotten thus far have been around $1000 for just music (some including ceremony, some not.)

I am getting married in the philly area and I got quotes from about 5-6 different DJs. I didn’t want to spend more than $1000 on a DJ but many of the places I received quotes from wanted $1200-$1500 for 5 hours! I ended up booking with a DJ who charges a flat rate of $950 for basically however many hours you need them. However, if you need an extra sound system (for example for your ceremony location) it is $100 per extra sound system. I have not gotten married yet but I was very excited to book my DJ and got great vibes from him. If you want the name, I can provide it.

MishyStars: I found DJ’s from $365 to $1600. I am paying $775 for 5 hours DJ/emcee services, professional sound system+remote system for cocktail hour, dance lighting, wireless mic, online planning. I haven’t gotten married yet so I can’t say that they were awesome at my wedding but I have seen videos and reviews so I am confident with the company.

SJSIegmann: I’d love his name! If you want to private message me, that’s fine. I have the feeling we might have spoken to the same one.

I paid $1175 for ours plus $75 tip. He did ceremony music cocktail hour and kept the dance floor packed, he also provided a microphome to our officiant as well as allowed my uncle who played the guitar before the ceremony to hook up to his speakers.
