@arenyth: Yes, but it just DOES NOT accomplish the task like it does in the infomercial.  So now I’m back to purchasing pre-grated cheese, since I hate doing it manually.

This is slightly off topic, but I see a lot of people posting along the lines of: “Let her vent, why should other people butt in with different opinions?”

My stance is, why post on a board where other people are going to read, and have the opportunity to respond? If you really just want to vent and get NO response (or only one type of response) I think the medium is a personal blog where you can filter comments–or turn them off completely. If you post to a public forum you have to accept that any type of comment could come in and as long as it follows the boards TOS those comments are just as valid as your original post.

Well I had  a bad experience with Zales also but It’s not the same as the OP. Mine was with the credit card company. We have an interesting address and a lot of people get it wrong (especially my FI) so when he filled out the credit card information the address was wrong. So after I got the ring and I knew what he did I immediately went to the nearest Zales and asked them to pull up the information to see if it was correct. And it wasn’t. So she “fixed” it and I went about my business. A month later and still no card or statement. So I called the credit card co. and if you don’t have your account number, you can’t get farther than that. So I called another store and she gave me the account number so I called and the bill that I have yet to see was two weeks overdue and I had to pay a late fee. So I refused and explained the situation and how I kept trying to fix it but it apparently didn’t get fixed and he said he could waive the late fee and he set up a payment for the next two months. And I am meticulous about keeping up with bills and confirmation numbers. And this one time I was in the car with no pen and paper and didn’t get the number.  Days later I get a phone call from another lady asking why the bill hadn’t been paid. I was FURIOUS. So I let her do it all over again. And she took the late fee off AGAIN. And then since then we’ve been getting the bill but not the card. So I call back to get that reissued. And then a few weeks ago, my grandfather had a stroke and got taken to Chapel Hill, about 2 1/2 hours away from me. The bill was due so I called and the lady said they didn’t accept debit card payments over the phone. And when I explained the situation she transferred me to someone that would help me. And February’s bill and it went up $30. So I call and ask why. Apparently when the debit card gets processed it takes an extra day, I was told about this and also told that this would be taken off. And so the guy very calmly explained why I would have to still pay the extra payment but he did remove the late fee.

So I understand your frustration with Zales (and Citi bank) completely! But I wouldn’t tell anyone to avoid Zales. Every time I go in there they are sooo nice to me and offer me a ring cleaning (which I accept)!

Sorry for your bad experience!

My ring is from zales and I LOVE it. It might not be the BEST diamond, or the most EXPENSIVE ring out there, but my fiance picked it out for me, and it represents us and our future together….

Sometimes I don’t get WB. It’s all well and good for folks to be all kumbaya but come out with an opinion that folks don’t like and it’s ‘all claws out’. Oh well. I don’t see anything wrong with her Fiance coming on the board to defend his purchase. I’ve seen other people’s FI’s come on the board to make comments (maybe not in response to their fiancee’s comments but still…) anyhow, to the OP, I’m sorry that you didn’t like your first stone. It’s a VERY EXPENSIVE lesson to learn. Sorry.

@Miss Tattoo: After a few of those Strawberry Wheat beers do you really think they will be able to stop us from chopping up stuff at their tables.

@Musicman2012: One thing that’s been brought up is why you didn’t ask for a microscope or to use a loupe to look at the diamond.  And why did you choose to buy a diamond without looking at it under a loupe or microscope?  Why would you buy a diamond you couldn’t thoroughly look at?  Why didn’t you just walk away?

You keep blaming Zales for not having microscopes.  My first thought would’ve been that there’s a reason (ie: poor quality diamonds) that they don’t have a microscope.  That would’ve sent off a huge red flag and I would’ve left in an instant if I couldn’t thoroughly look over that stone under a microscope or a loupe.

I do NOT understand why a store gets blamed for someone’s poor judgement and incompetence.

I disagree and I’m not avoiding zales ๐Ÿ˜‰ my Fiance got my wedding band there and I LOVE IT!!

I had a bad burger at Mcdonalds once ๐Ÿ™ but I don’t tell people to avoid it ๐Ÿ˜‰

regardless like otherwise stated if you don’t do your research you get what you pay for… and, you get what you pay for.
