Most newly engaged do, I ignored them and never answered.  I think that it is just rude to invite yourself anywhere, a simple congrats would have been more to my liking.

UGH, I swear weddings bring out the rudest behavior in people! I’m starting to see how ridiculous some can be!

edit- to answer your question, yes people have assumed they are invited and made comments to let me know…most of the people who have done this are NOT invited!

Oh lord, yes! Rander McFlanders I hadn’t talked to in years were like “Can’t wait for the wedding!” Lol! I was stunned.

@MrsTimmy: Yup! Even people at work who I don’t even know saw the ring and actually said “Well, I better get an invite!”

RUDE! Ignore it or respond with “we are having a small wedding” Even if you are inviting 400 people, and you just don’t want people there you don’t know very well, or even people you don’t really like.

Yes, that happened a couple of times..and almost 10 months later it still happens, it’s just bound to 😉

Sometimes people have asked us in person–it seems like they’re joking at first. I kind of laugh it off, talk about our plans without giving very much detail, and change the subject if I can by asking them questions about themselves and their life. It’s a little awkward sometimes, I admit.

Fiancee and I both got similar reactions from our Facebook friends–we privately messaged them and thanked them for their expressions of congratulations, but that we were having an intimate with our immediate family. Other than the fact that we changed our status’ we have been trying to keep everything wedding related off of Facebook.

OMG. You have NOOO idea! I have private messages of perfect strangers (Just FB friends) asking for invites, asking for details, etc…it drives me crazy!!! Acquaintances asking to be bridesmaids I mean it is really begginning to take a toll on me but I try to just ignore it and remember that I cant please everybody.

Oh!! I thought it was charming and sweet when I changed my status on FB, but then a couple dozen people were all, “When’s the wedding? I’m booking it off! I can’t wait!” And not one of these people are on my guest list. They all were asking for details, and I was not going to give any away. I seriously considered never going on that site ever again. It was.. horrifying! I had no idea how to even begin answering these people, but my Fiance decided we were just going to ingore them and pretend we did not see their silly comments, and it seemd to work out. I am relieved to hear that this didn’t happen to just me. 🙂

After this, I never, ever for any reason put anything at all wedding related on FB. It’s just not a good idea.

LOL, yes. A girl who added me ages ago and never said a single word to me all of a sudden was like, “OMG, you’re engaged, congrats! Let’s go grab coffee and catch up some time!” Hm, trying to be all buddy-buddy with me now that there’s a wedding to go to? NO INVITE FOR YOU!

This is why as sad as I have been about it – I still have not changed my status on facebook.  Our guest list was rough to make as it was and I am terrible at saying no.  I cant wait to change the status to married!!!!!

I got a lot of ‘congrats’ and ‘post ring picture!’. I didn’t want to post my ring. You’ll see it when you see me. Fiance got really mad at the person that put ‘finally’ (we only dated 2 years!) and I havent spoken to her since, since it really rubbed me the wrong way.
