Last weekend I had a great shower & stagette where I had invited all the female coworkers, along with some other people. Not everyone came, but they did a group gift with a card that everyone had signed. Some people hadn’t been around to sign the card, but even their names were added on.
When I sat down to write thank you notes, I realized a name was missing on the card. I figured that it was just because she had busy and missed signing the card even though she’s been at work (it’s happened). I almost just wrote the card, but I sent an email to the coworker I’m fairly close to and who appeared to have organized the group gift. I felt a bit awkward writing the email, but it turns out this one person didn’t contribute. I’m glad I didn’t give her a thank you card, it would have felt like I expected her to give a gift. Now, I have to hand out the thank yous and skip her. Hopefully, I can spread it out a bit so it’s not super noticeable.
