Hi bees, this is a sort of awkward question, I am unsure what underwear to wear under my dress, I am a bigger girl wearing an a-line dress, you can sort of see the outline if my belly button through the dress in the photos I have of trying it on. I have bought some shapewear underwear, the big panty type that come up to the waist in really tight material. I think my stomach will look better if I wear those but I’m not sure how I will get them on and off to go to the toilet, my dress is a corset back. Or do I just wear comfy underwear? If I wear the shapewear I might change to the comfy ones for reception, for eating drinking etc.

Might it be possible to find a waist cincher that only goes around your waist and doesn’t double as undies/shorts? That way you can still wear your comfortable pair but have the sleeker shape you’re looking for around your tummy. If not, I say go with the comfy ones, you don’t want to feel squashed (or panicked if you have to pee!) on your wedding day 🙂

Cut a hole in the crotch 😉
Kidding! I have the same problem, I’ll probably wear cure comfy pantied and a separate waste shaper

Miss.E.91: Rago shapewear. There’s a fold similar to men’s underwear that you can pull to the side and pee. I love mine!

Shapewear x10000. Disclaimer: I follow the “beauty is pain” mantra to a certain extent. I personally would regret the fact that I could see my belly button outline in wedding photos moreso than I would remember the minor annoyance of pulling down tight shapewear to pee on my wedding day.

Miss.E.91: MrsYellowDaffodil: Totally agree with MrsYellowDaffodil, I have rago shapewear, and let me tell you as a plus size lady, it is sooooooo comfy!!!!! And it has the flap to pull to the side to pee! And it gives you a great shape. Rago all the way!

shapewear with a pee hole….. most full body spanx has it
if its just a normal “crotch” (like a bathing suit) just do what I did in the summer as a kid and just pull it to the side
you will probably only pee like 1 or 2 x total the whole night so I rather look my best and deal

If you have already purchased your shapewear, have a seamstress open the front seam in the crotch panel and insert a hook and eye closure. You can open the shapewear at the bottom when the need arises. It is much easier to manage if the closure is at the front.

I wore spanx. They were the shorts kind, really thin and breathable, and completely seemless. Mine only went up to just above the belly button- I didn’t buy the kind that went up to the braline because it would have shown in the back of my dress. It wasn’t a problem on the wedding day. I had my Maid/Matron of Honor hold my skirt up and I slowly pulled down my spanx from underneath. It does give you some support, but not as much as some of the more extreme shapewear, but it certainly is a lot more comfortable.

I wore spanx (generic brand) that went just past my belly button. I peed twice on my wedding day from 10am-midnight, when I usually pee a billion times a day! The first time I pulled them to the side (as a PP mentioned) which was pretty easy since they were kind of boy short cut. The second time was midway through the reception and I just took them off.

When I wear shapewear I just pee swimmer style (pull it to the side).
My best friend gave me one piece of advice for the wedding day. She told me to make sure I wore my undergarments before the wedding. She wore new, seamless underwear on her day. A brand she’s worn other styles in, just not this particular style. And they slid down mid-vow. You can see on the video her face goes “EEP!” when they start to slide. She says she doesn’t remember what was being said at the moment because she was too worried how she was going to hike them back up. She was afraid they’d slide way too far down and she wouldn’t be able to walk back down the aisle normally.
