Lets add this to the annoying parts of the waiting period… Last night we saw SO’s brother for drinks and his bro put his arm around me and started saying “Look Mr. Pink, I can do this any time I want because she’s my sister in law! And she’s awesome… I’m happy she’s my sister in law! Come here for a family hug because we’re family and she’s my sister in law!!!” This after their dad keeps hinting at babies/weddings… I’m happy they’re excited but man it makes waiting harder when other people keep reminding me it’s not really official yet!

That is so amazing that his family loves you! I bet an engagement is just around the corner 🙂

That’s awesome that they say those things.
Recently (ever since my SO mentioned to his mom that we’ve looked at rings and they went together looking too), she’ll introduce me as future daughter in law and say things like she loves me and how cute we are.
Bu you’re right, when they do say those things it is bittersweet. I love hearing the acceptance from his family, but I just want it to be official! I want to finally call my boyfriend of 9 years, my fiance and husband!!

@Pinknyy: Must be…All the guys are strapped for cash. Women out-earn men now and have more education. The guys are just struggling to put food on the table. Rent is high. I mean, damn, if I would save 30 bucks from every paycheck I would have been able to buy MYSELF my dream ring…1 year ago…But I digress. things are though in NYC…But the SO and I pay our rent on time…so thats good.

I don’t really get that from my boyfriend’s family (it’s really just his parents). Marriage has only come up with his mom once, about two years ago, and she was really catty about it. I know she loves me, but she seems really reluctant about it. I don’t know what his dad thinks–he’s only spoken one sentence to me the entire ten years that his son and I have been together.
What I hate, though, is co-workers. My co-workers know how long we’ve been together and they keep trying to get me to break up with him because of it. They swear that he’s taking me for granted, etc. I actually had someone try to fix me up with someone else WHILE I’m still dating my boyfriend!
