I am wondering if anyone else has had a B12 deficiency and trouble losing weight? or if you started taking a B12 supplement and lost weight? If you are trying to lose weight and have a deficiency, I’d say try taking some B12 lol
I have had a B12 deficiency for a long time and was avoiding the injections that my doctor prescribed. Instead, I finally started taking a sublingual (under tongue) liquid about 5 weeks ago. I have had a lot of difficulty losing this last bit of weight for years and suddenly I have lost 8-10 pounds and reached my goal weight. The B12 is the only thing I changed!

that’s definitely interesting. Are you a vegan or vegetarian by any chance?
i only ask because B12 deficiency is pretty uncommon in younger individuals.

I was B12 deficient due to Crohn’s disease. I can’t say that adding it helped me to lose weight. I did injections monthly for about two years and then stopped when my levels were above normal. Now I’ve gained a ton of weight… so who knows.

I’m B12 deficient because of Crohn’s disease. I use a prescription B12 nasal spray once a month for several years now. I’ve not notice any changes in my weight since I’ve started using it (except for flares when I lose a ton of weight but that’s not B12 related).

@mstellah: I’m not technically a vegetarian or vegan, but I don’t eat much meat. I like chicken, but that is about it. I don’t eat any fish either.

I started taking b12 about a month ago and I havent lost any, but I definitely have more energy and my workouts aren’t making me want to nap for 8 hours afterwards, so thats a big plus. Congrats on the weight loss!

This is interesting, I’m going to have to google b12, as I don’t eat a ton of meat either.

B vitamins can provide a feeling of energy boost- perhaps this makes you more active, hence the weight loss.
