First baby at 35, second at 36 and I wouldn’t change a thing. I was not in the right place in my life to have kids at a younger age. I don’t feel “old” and all of my friends are just starting to have kids as well. Women are having kids into their 40’s these days. I’m all for it and don’t think my age has mattered at all.

I’m having mine at 36.  I don’t know any differently, so I can’t compare.  What I consider the advatages are having more financial security than I did in my 20s, having had a chance to travel and forge friendships, and having more patience.  The lack of sleep will likely be more difficult than it was in our 20s.  We’re also have a little more pressure to meet the financial goals we set out to do without a child (pay off 30 year mortgage in 15 years, allow for H to retire in his mid-50s).  I think the pluses outweigh the minuses.  We’re truly ready for this kid.

I met Darling Husband just before I turned 36. We got married when I was 38. Had a MC at 6 weeks in August 2013. Had Dear Daughter at 39 in July of 2014. I had another MC this past september and am now 6 weeks pregnant with #2 and will be 41 tomorrow.

So good – DD! More financially stable, found the right guy

Bad – MC’s. But that could have still happened if I was 25. I’ll never know.

DS was born when I was 18. This new one will arrive shortly after I turn 36. And we’re hopeful to have another around 38. Being a younger parent kinda sucked a lot. I’m so happy that I get a do-over with all of the wisdom, patience, self-assurance, and financial stability I’ve acquired in the 18 years since I did this the first time.

Not my experience, but my mom had my little sister at 36 when I was 10 years old. I loved to babysit my little sister (and my mom loved it too). I honestly think she was much more relaxed with my little sister since she was older (not old, just oldER) and wiser than when she had me, and she was able to let things roll off her back more. She was also more financially stable and able to stay at home with my sister which I know meant a lot to her. My sister is now 21 and my parents have plenty of time left to go on trips alone together and have fun as empty nesters!

My mom had my brother at 28, me at 30, my younger brother at 35, and my youngest brother at 40!  I can’t speak from personal experience but I think she’s amazing!

warmsoul1101:  I’m 33 and just had my first 6 weeks ago.  We’ll start trying for #2 in a year and a half… I never gave a second thought about my age.  I’ll be 35/36 if we are successful within a short period of time.  No big deal.

I was 38 when I finally decided to have a baby and it was a wonderful experience!  I knew this would be the only baby I have so I enjoyed every moment of it and I still look at my daughter in awe everyday and wonder where she has been all of my life. I didn’t feel old at all even though a lot of people would say I was older…I just knew that was the right time for me.  If I could do it all over again, I would.  🙂

I was 37 when my little boy was born and he is a god send. We love him so much. I am 42 now and we would like a 2nd child. Just an FYI my grandmother had my dad when she was 47!

I just had my son in April and then turned 36 last month. My son is a perfectly healthy boy, he is actually big for his age but he was born 2.5 months early. Him arriving early had nothing to do with my age though. I have a bicornuate uterus so my uterus is shaped like a heart and my uterus is almost split into two sections, and he was on the right side, so there wasn’t enough space for him to grow to full term. Even though this has happened I plan on trying for another baby some time next year and hopefully I will have 2 children by the time I am 37!
