I have been told by about a million people that the Baby Bargains book is a really good resource for finding out great values for baby items. Now that I’m trying to find it online, I’m not sure I’ve found the right one. There are a few different books with the words “baby” and “bargains” in the title! Does anyone here know which book I am talking about? What books/ resources did you use when researching?

Yes, that book really helps! It is by the same author as Baby 411 if that helps. Make sure you get the most recent edition if possible.

An Amazon link for the book:
I do like it, but I find it a bit preachy with respect to items the authors do not find necessary — like bassinets. Okay, I get it, they find bassinets to be a waste of money, but I want one. So please offer suggestions instead of telling me to set up the full-size crib in my bedroom!

You can also find it at Borders and Barnes and Noble. It is a green book that is sort of “long and narrow.”
As a first time mom, I found it useful. For instance, I didn’t even know what some of the recommended “baby stuff” was! They help sort of break down the different options in a way that makes sense.
That said, they can be a bit preachy. For example, the book authors say that you CANNOT USE a used crib. You must get brand new. Well, I just don’t think that’s true. We received a very new crib from a friend (it’s a 2008 model) and it is in perfect condition with all of the safety features we need. So take some of it with a grain of salt.
