Does anyone have any simple, ubiquitous method for announcing the birth of your baby…like when you’re in the hospital and you want only those select few to know right away? I don’t want to use facebook (I know I can make a private group) because I have a lot of close family and friends who don’t use that. I’m also looking at Google+ but again, people who don’t have gmail accounts will have to sign up and I don’t want to do that to them if they don’t want to.
The best thing I can think of is sending out an email, but i want that to be easy for either my husband or me (depending what shape I’ll be in) and it tends to be less flashy–let’s face it, I kinda want flashy, like a social media site or something but one that is more available to everyone despite membership.
I may be thinking about something that doesn’t exist–but I’m sure there are creative people out there who have done what I’m proposing–sending out the initial pic and announcement to a select few with a bit of uniqueness to it.
Anyway have any ideas, or am I just wasting my time?

There are a couple fun ways you could do this.
I believe you can still create a special “group” on facebook (and make it totally private) and include those special people, and post an announcement JUST for that group to see upon arrival. As far as I know you can post an update/pics etc and the rest of your facebook world cannot see it.
You could do the same thing with a “group” email and jsut have it titled “baby group” or something so it’s easy for hubby to see/compose/send.
Or, when in doubt, a mass text to those people with a little picture!

what about a paperless post birth announcement? You send it through e-mail (i think?) but its much prettier than just a plain ol’ email saying Baby is here!
Some you have to pay for, but lots of free cute options, too!

like @Krises i thought you could do an online card!
Just pick out which one you want beforehand and then plug the photo in!
