Totally agree with @MrsBroccoli:

It’s cycle 9 of TTC for us and I stopped logging into Facebook because every other post on my newsfeed is either “Look at my baby!” or some inspirational thing about how the love of your child is all that matters in life. I can’t see that without feeling sad, I can hardly imagine having baby items at my own house that are for a baby that doesn’t exist.

i dont think its weird. its just like a hope chest. a hope chest is where you buy things for when you move out and get married. my mom bought me my first thing at 16 like her mom did for her. when i moved outi didnt need a single thing haha so preparing for babies is similar. its just harder because you cant buy clothes or girl or boy things because you dont get to pick genders lol i told my husband im going to start collecting baby things once i fure out where to hide it so people wont find my stash haha

My fiancee and I aren’t going to start TTC until a year after our wedding, but we have 2 things for baby. One, a stuffed polar bear that my mom sent for “Baby NewLastName” with our Christmas gifts last year (she went baby crazy after we announced our engagement – we have been together for a long time lol), and a romper/onesie thing that we saw that had special meaning to us. I’ve seen tons of cute baby stuff that I want, but I figure I can find it all again someday – the little stuffed animal was a total surprise to me, and then the outfit was just SO perfect for us and in a clearance bin at a store so I couldn’t resist.

Even if we can’t conceive naturally (which is an actual concern we have) we will start the adoption process asap, so I don’t think it’s necessarily a “jinx” thing, but I also wouldn’t buy just every single thing I find cute. I mean we’ve both had baby fever for at least three years, so I think I’m doing alright having only bought one thing lol.

I do a little bit… A few maternity things, some little baby things. We’re currently in a one bedroom apt. When we’re in a house, I will likely accumulate a little bit more 🙂 haha …And I will start getting a nursery ready – But that probably won’t start until we start TTC

No – I was too worried that I wouldn’t be able to concieve easily, and it would be a painful reminder in that case. I’m very superstitious, though. 9 months is plenty of time to accumulate stuff for the baby and buy maternity clothes – besides, people give you a lot (a few friends gave me all of their maternity clothes) and you don’t know when you’ll be pregnant and have the baby – so would you need summer or winter clothes for maternity wear, and what sizes/seasonal wear for the baby?

I have loads and loads of clothes– we may be fostering though, so I’ve started buying/being given clothing for kids of all sizes. I don’t know if that counts!

We have a box! I pick up stuff when I see something really cute/practical, like organic cotton clothing or glass bottles on super clearance. We’ve had sooo many friends have babies lately and I always make baby gift baskets, so I usually end up using a few of the things I have stored in our shower gifts. We call it our “secondary birth control” since spoiling everyone elses kids helps take care of the baby rabies.

When I was ordering a gift for a baby shower I ordered a newborn onesie that says “Daddy loves me more than zombies love brains.”  I plan on giving that to SO when we (fingers crossed) get our BFP.  I’m glad I went ahead and ordered it because it is now out of stock.  I also bought a 12-18 month-old Nirvana t-shirt.  I have picked up a few kids books at yard sales.  This is where I’ll probably go crazy.  I plan to have a HUGE library of books for all stages of childhood.

As far as everything else goes, my best friend just had a baby last week and has offered to give/sell me anything I would want when she’s done because this will be her last one.

Haha guilty 🙂 Well its not really a box its a hope chest, everytime I go down to target in the states I buy one boy and one girl new born item. My Fiance thinks I’m crazy but I know he enjoys picking the baby stuff just as much as I do. Our moms have been giving us stuff too ie. knitted baby stuff and his mom just gave us a bunch of his baby clothes from her hope chest don’t know if we’ll ever use it but it was still nice of her. We have the coming home outfit already we got a camo gift set my Maid/Matron of Honor hates it haha its so cute though they also have pink camo one that I think I might go get soon!
