Radley is a nice name, not too unusual, which is a good thing. I’ll admit, though, I think it would be awesome if Boo was his first name :).

If you too like it, that’s what’s important. Like PP said, there are always going to be people who like any name you choose. Also, it’s super hard to come up with a name you both like, so if you both love this one it could be the one.

I would have two concerns with the name Radley. I have a name that is just slightly off a more common name and it’s really confusing for people. They really want to call me the more common version. (In their defense, my name is more commonly a male name, and there is a more traiditional female name that is similar so that makes it worse.)

I didn’t catch if you’d posted your last name, but I saw someone posted “Richardson”. If you’re name does start with an R I think it could be hard. My brother-in-law recently had a roommate whose name was just off of a more traditional name AND an alliteration with his last name. It sounded like you had a lisp when you said it. Of course, they’re college boys, but they thought it was hilarious. And the boy goes by his middle name, presumably because he’s tired of people getting it wrong and thinking it’s funny.

I would name the kid the name you WANT him to go by. radley is cute. Make sure you like ‘rad’ as a nickname though.

Loandrob2014:  I think it’s different but not crazy.  I”m usually one who sort of side eyes the “unique” names.  Radley is a surname, so I think it fits right in with current name trends.

alamana:  yep I think Boo Radley too!  Not the worst thing, though. I like the name Radley. But I probably couldn’t help but call him Boo :-). Congrats on deciding!
