Totally agree that Aiden is not a good choice due to it’s ridiculous popularity. My friend who is a 1st grade teacher has a classroom of 13 kids, and there are FIVE, yes 5, Aiden’s. DG is right, anything ending in -en is going to be super trendy and will date back to this time. I think it’s best to either be unique, or classic/timeless (like Jacob) with naming babies. Trendy is not the way to go.

We’re just starting the TTC process but boy names are a toughy for us as well. A few that we don’t hate are Damen and Stephen (stef-fin not steven) One I like that might work for you is Jakoby and could be shortened to koby instead of Jake.

I love the name Willem.

Indiana Jones was named after his father’s dog. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have this great baby name book- The Baby Name Wizard.  They say…

If you like the name Aidan, you might also like: Liam, Gavin, Connor, Dylan or Riley.

Girls named Jade, might have a brother named: Gage, Blake, Stone, Quinn or Jett.

Personally, I like the name Eamon, which is close to Aidan, but a lot less popular.

One of my favorite names in the world is Jacob, always has been! The boy and I even picked out the name Jacob James (James is his name). But then those darn Twilight books/movies came out and I just know the name is going to get super popular ๐Ÿ™

My second favorite boys name is Gabriel, closely followed by Noah and Elijah. Something about biblical names that I love, which is funny because I only grew up culturally Jewish, not religious!

If you are looking to stay away from popular names, don’t go with Aiden because it was the number 1 most popular boys name in 2009. My opinion? Who cares how popular a name is if YOU like it. I’m a Nicole and was born in the late 80s. There were always at least 3 Nicole’s in my grade and I couldn’t care less. My mom just gave me a less popular nickname ๐Ÿ˜€

Don’t know if you will like it but our son’s name is Anderson. I also like Wyatt but that is my ex’s name so it would be weird.

Some boy names I like are Keir, Caleb, Callum, Connor…I don’t know what it is with the “k” sound for me! Is there a surname in the family (like MIL’s maiden name) that could work?

@ Firie Everyone is right…Aiden is very, very popular right now. My husband’s cousins baby’s name is Aiden and our friend just had a baby boy and named him Aiden! I love the name though…just very popular! I do love Jaiden or Jaden! ๐Ÿ™‚
