I also like the name Max.
I also like the name Max.
Wow, I am overwhelmed by the response. Thanks everyone!!!!
Its interesting the Naming trend differences between Australia and other parts of the world. The NSW Births Deaths and Marriages listed Aiden as number 40 on the most popular for 2009, with number 1 being William closley follwed by Jack, Noah, Jaiden Jake and Jacob (all within the top 20). lol
I’m not allowed to name him Aiden anyway. I didn’t choose the name because of Sex and the City, but it was on TV when Fiance came home and Aiden was on it. He is now even more determined that I will not name his son that. Men!!!!!
I love the name Quinn, that was also one on my original listed. My Fiance rolled his eyes and pointed to Season 1 and 2 of Sliders on DVD sitting on my shelf. He was also reading this over my shoulder and made a Trekkie comment about Zephron Cochran being the guy that invented Warp Drive. lol.
Jakoby is a good idea as well…… do I know that name from a realty TV show?? Sounds familiar for some reason………will muse on that for awhile.
I love the name Gabriel, it would have been short listed for my daughter, if my best friend hadn’t pinched it first 🙂
….Maybe I could take the approach of no I don’t know his name, he hasn’t told me yet. 😀
And the debate with my Fiance goes on…..
I’ve always loved the name Levi for a boy. also really like Caden
I love Alfie (I’ve got one in my class and he’s a classic!), Finn, Archie (no. 1 on our list at the moment!), Charlie, Rafferty (Love it but it’ll clash with FI’s last name really badly!), Avery, Luka, Jonah, Elijah & Fabian – love em all!
I’m a teacher and I’ve met HUNDREDS of Liams, Jamies, Coopers, Jacksons (They’re EVERYWHERE), Jacobs, Joshuas, Baileys.
My favorite boy name has always been Darian.
My Fiance really loves the name Maxwell, Max for short. It’s international and easy to pronounce and not super trendy. I always liked Dillon for a boy but he won’t hear of it. I also like Lucas (Luke) but have an ex with that name so that will never happen for me either. How about Sebastian?
We are thinking Logan Douglas for a boy. Douglas is DH’s dad’s name.
I love Elliot (Eli), Jacob, Lucas, Ethan, Evan, and Noah.
DH likes some really old school names (think your great grandparents’ generation) but I think a lot of them sound to dated.
@Firie- I believe there’s an MLB baseball player with the name Jakoby…maybe on the red sox? even though it is an American thing maybe you heard the name somehow in relation to him? lol and for names I like Roarke 🙂
I’m not a big fan of any of the “en” names. I think they are beautiful, but I have a really common name as well. And growing up there were at least two or three other girls in my class with my name. I had to go by my initial. Even to this day, when someone calls a friend and the friend says they’re with me, the next question is which one?
I love the name Jakob. Other names are Samuel (Sam), Julien, Zachary. And I’m pretty sure that Van is a dutch name, I’ve only ever met one person with that name.
I also feel like some of the -en names are uber popular right now too. My brother just had a little boy, and they were contemplating Logan. I have to say that I was glad that’s not his name since I know 3 other people who named their baby Logan. You never want to be the 5th kid in the class with the same name as everyone else!
They ended up naming him Lucas. I really liked it…especially b/c it can be shortened to Luke if they want to.
Our favorite boy name right now is Benjamin. My husband loves Troy, but I nixed that one right off the bat! The bully in elementary school was named Troy! No way I’m naming my kid after the class bully!
Oooh congrats! I might be repeating some names here, but I wanted to post some of my favourite! (PS I LOVE the name Jade, so beautiful!!)
To be honest, I have a much easier time with girls’ names! lol. Congrats again!
If you want to check on popularity and trends real time the Social Security site has an awesome tool:
A lot of people name their baby something that seems really unique only to find out it has become super popular. For example Ava which is a top 5 girls name the last couple years but used to be 180th most popular! Similar with Aiden (#324 in 2000 and #12 in 2009)
you can also see top lists of boys and girls name any year
One name we had really liked for a boy was Riley but when we did the SS search we found out it was more popular for girls than boys! That nixed that right away for us 🙂
I love Graham and Julian for a boy!
My friend just named her baby boy Corbin. They call him Corby for short…
Nathaniel! Nicholas! Raymond!
