I think it’s good sometimes to run the meanings of the two names together to get a feel also. For example if you take the 2 meanings of my son’s name it means "Beloved who is like God". I just see him as a little blessing from God, definitely beloved by me.
How about trying that out? Put out a bunch of name you both like and see how the meanings mesh together.

bellenga — I like to know what names mean too .. I think its important in the naming process, instead of just picking name ’cause it sounds pretty. My first name "Gabrielle" means "God is my strength". I still have my prayer card that has my name on it. my middle name "Elizabeth" is "God’s promise/God is my oath" so together, to me, it is a promise of God’s strength.

I love Jake and Nicholas (I always wanted a Nicky but I’m marrying one and we aren’t a fan of juniors so that’s out). Aidan. Matthew.
Congrats again! I can’t imagine what a wonderful thing this is for you two

Why not just go with a japanese name?
I’ve always like Mamoru, but that’s cuz I was into sailor moon ;), and Tamahome (from fushigi yuugi). What about Damien? Tasuke? Sosuke? (little sosuke in Ponyo on the Cliff was so cute!!!)
I’m no help – I really like japanese names 🙂
other than that, I think scandinavian names sound cool -bjorn, einar, Eyvindar, Geirolf, Ivar, Sven, Swan (actually a french boy’s name), Rainor, Yngvar

Well my son is a II and my guy is a IV and his son is a V! Lots of initials and numbers in this family. Just how we roll.
But I love the meaning behind a name and carrying on a family name to me is like a little piece of eternity and a wonderful way to forever honor a loved one.

@Karina85: I’m so happy to hear that you like that name, too! I love that it’s unique, but not strange. I like it so much that I’ve considered using "Roma" if I have a girl. 🙂

oooo I like Roma for a girl! I never thought of that before!!! I like Nora but because of association with people I know, I wouldn’t name my own girl that… Roma is similar though

I like Nora, too! My Future Sister-In-Law was going to name her daughter that – until he was a boy – but it was going to be short for Eleanor. I think that it’s such a timeless name, but with the abbreviation it can still be cute and girly!
