So, I was all totally set with my little girl name…all picked out, decided on, agreed on…and then, surprise, we’re having a boy! We’re having a really hard time picking out a name…so I’m just looking for totally open ended suggestions. I like more traditional names (biblical names are mostly what we’ve thought of) and ideally we’d want the name to flow well with “Joshua” or “Jeffrey” as a middle name. No “R” Names because of our last name and because of the length of the last name alliteration sounds reeeeeally bad.
So far our front runner is “Luke” but DH is iffy on how it sounds with the middle names. He loves Noah, and so do I but I worry that it’s too trendy right now and he’ll be one of 10 Noah’s in his class. We both like “Connor” but a close friend is due a month before me and is having a Connor, so I don’t really want to pick the same name. I don’t mind more unique names as long as they’re not crazy or spelled weird.

Also kinda trendy but what about Luca? Elijah?
Popular names today are not like they were in 80s, it would probably be more like 2 Noah’s 😉

I teach school. We are loaded to hilt with Ethan, Aiden, Noah, Alex and Jonathan. I would avoid these.

I like Luke, but not with the middle names you have suggested. :/
– Andrew Jeffrey
– Levi Joshua

I like Patrick & Nathaniel. Vincent I can’t do…just makes me think Vinny…then My Cousin Vinny. Plus I used to have a fat orange cat named Vincent.
I like Levi, not sure if DH will think it’s too untraditional though
I like Elijah/Eli a lot but I think it runs the same risk as Noah being too popular

Okay, but My Cousin Vinny is a cinematic classic!
You can’t make those marks without positraction, which was not available on the ’64 Buick!

How about Lucas instead of Luke? I think Lucas Joshua/Jeffrey flows well.
Some other names: Nathan, Nathaniel, James, Samuel, Alexander

if he thinks Levi is untraditional, show him in the Bible where Levi is one of Joseph’s brothers!
i agree about Noah, I like it but it’s pretty common at the moment.

For some strange reason, I hate the name Lucas but love the name Luke. Lucas feels like a super villian in a comic book name to me. I think I just have way too many dumb associations with way too many names lol…although I agree it does flow better

I like Luke, I wouldn’t really worry about it flowing with the middle names. I think Luke Joshua or Luke Jeffrey sounds just fine and it’s not like anyone is really going to call him by his full name anyway,

That’s what I was thinking and telling DH–like how many times do people use your first AND middle name? I don’t even know most people’s middle names…actually now that I think about it, I don’t think I even know my SIL & BIL’s middle names…
