It seems that along with the ball dropping over the weekend, the baby has as well. I’m almost at 37 weeks (with my first pregnancy) so it seems like I’m right on track. This is one part of pregnancy I hadn’t heard a lot about so I wasn’t 100% sure what to expect. For me at least, the dropping was quite sudden. I don’t know if it’s more gradual for some people but one day I’m high and the next I’m not. So weird that such a big change in shape can occur so quickly. Some pretty piercing intermittent hip pain has come with it. Not fun. Anyone else in the same boat? What was this “lightening” like for you?

When I was in week 37, half the people would say Oh you haven’t dropped yet. The other half say Oh you dropped! Each is certain they are correct. I just say really, oh yah because I couldn’t tell for sure. Even a few days ago, my OB was vaguely says- You’re starting to drop so that’s good.
I do know as of 2 weeks ago, I have to suddenly pee urgently all the time. I even had some embarrassing accidents b/c Darling Husband made me laugh so hard–He said he tag teamed with the baby. : ( And no pain for me, but I hear joints pop (like my knees) in my pelvic area when I first wake. That freaked me out b/c I thought my water broke or something worse.
That’s a good one, “like the ball dropping” on New Year’s…I felt lots and lots of movement, particularly on Christmas eve and New Year’s eve and we just stayed home. Didn’t know I’d be feeling so much movement late in pregnancy, 1 week til my due date.

@808, I expected movement to slow down as well but it sure doesn’t seem like it has. Still big ol’ kick and punches and backin’ that little booty up. 🙂 Good luck in your last week(ish)!
