My Fiance and I are getting married August 16 of this year. We both want at least one kid. I want to try right away. I am on birth control and I heard that if you have been on it for a long time you should stop it a month or 2 before trying to get pregnant? Not sure how true this is lol I have a feeling I am going to have a hard time TTC so I am looking at my options . What did you do? Did you wait till you were married to go off birth control?

@Mrs_PinkHerman: i am not TTC yet but I also will have an issue. I have been on BC. On and off for 10 years. And everyone is different. I know women who got pregnant right away after getting off BC And I kmow women who it took a couple of tries. You will never kmow until you try.
PS I have bad baby fever too lol

@Mrs_PinkHerman: you could get pregnant while on the pill… So I am pretty sure that everyone is different… I would suggest talking to your GYN at your annual lady parts appointment… They can help you set up a plan… If you both are serious about having a baby ASAP then I would think stopping your BC 1-2 months before your wedding would be fine… Worst case you are a few weeks preggers at your wedding and maybe a little bloated/nauseated.
Personally I wanted to have babies right away… Darling Husband and I got in a few fights about the actual start date, but eventually agreed to stop BC 2 months after our wedding… We had an amazing time at our wedding and on our honeymoon! It was great! Unfortunately we were sabotaged by DH’s doctor so it ended up taking us 13 cycles to finally get pregnant… We’re due a month after our second anniversary! It was a really hard year for us but we are so much stronger now – I can imagine who we would be if we had gotten pregnant sooner…
trust that what is supposed to happen, will happen – when its meant to! Hugs!!!

@Mrs_PinkHerman: I’m the same way! But, BC really keeps my skin in check and I would like to do everything possible to avoid having my period during the wedding/honeymoon (and if I go off, things will probably be wacky for a month or two), so I’m hanging on until after the honeymoon. I am taking pre-natals and working on being at ideal weight and really taking care of myself so that when I do go off, I’ve already set up a friendly baby-making environment 🙂
In the grand scheme of things, it’s really not the worst thing ever to be married for a little bit before a baby enters the picture (I say this even though I’m always like “MY OLD EGGGSSSS!” )

@Mrs_PinkHerman: I would at least wait until a few months before the wedding to go off BCP unless you decide to use condoms or another method.
Everyone is different it seems. Some pepole get pregnant pretty quickly after going off of BCP and it takes a while for other people’s cycles to regulate.
I was on BCP for 16 years and went off about 2.5 months before my wedding. I was actually planning on waiting at least a few months (I didn’t want to get pregnant right away because I wanted to drink at my wedding/honeymoon!) but I was pretty curious as to what my body would do off of the BCP (I had terribly irregular cycles when I went on at 13).
I ovulated and got pregnant within 2 weeks of going off of my pill, so you never know. So I ended up about 12 weeks at my wedding. I’m turning 30 this year, so I wasn’t really interested in just being married for awhile. If I had been younger I would never have went off my pills. So as long as you are ready to get pregnant right away, you can go off whenever you want. Unless you have a known issue that would make TTC difficult, I wouldn’t bet on it taking that long!

I went off in April, and my cycle regulated in early May. I ended up getting pregnant first cycle trying (we started TTC on the wedding night)

@Mrs_PinkHerman: I stayed on BCP until after the wedding because I didn’t want to risk having AF show up around our wedding day. I have now been off for 2 months and Darling Husband and I are planning to start TTC this summer. Every woman is different but so far my cycles have been normal.
