In a previous post, I was asking about first name advice… But Darling Husband and I have decided on Genevieve!!
But now comes the hard part, the middle name!
I like Elle.. He likes Kathleen… I think with such a big first name a short sweet middle name would be better.. So now, we’re at square one and need a new middle name!
Help please!! 🙂

@Mewithoutyou: OMG that’s the name I love!
Middle names – Rose, Grace, Lynn, Claire, Marie, Elizabeth, Isabelle, Leigh, Marielle
Marielle is good because you like Elle?

I think you should keep it short. You know how names have that rhythm? Maybe something with one syllable like Rose, Anne or Faith. But some 2 syllable names like Elyse, Michelle or Annette sound good too.
Elle as a middle is cute too! Good luck!

I love genevieve! And I agree with you that a shorter middle name would sound best. But Elle just doesn’t mesh in my head. I really like some of harperlynn’s suggestions. Especially Grace and Claire.

It really depends on your last name as well. How many syllables are there in your surname?
Genevieve Grace is nice, if you don’t mind her being a G G then. Genevieve Katy? Abigail/Abby?
Have you thought about what her short name will be? As in, what everyone will contract it to? Cos if she ends up being called Jenny most of the time, then a middle name that ends in an ‘ee’ sound might not work…

Last name is Murrey. And as far as her nickname we like Evie, Eve, Vivvi, Viv, Vi and my science loving husband like Gene-tic material(lol jkjk)
I also like Genevieve Eloise… But with sooo many E’s and both old fashioned sounding.. I wanted something a little more fun!
Keep them coming guys!! Thank you again!!

Anne? Genevieve Anne Murrey has a nice cadence to it. Ooh, I know it’s been suggested before, and it’s old-fashioned, but Rose is lovely!

Genevieve is beautiful! I agree with a PP that Genevieve Elle doesn’t really go together. :/

@Mewithoutyou: I love Elle, but I don’t think it works here. It sounds like one word if you say them together. I had this issue with Graham. My SO’s last name starts with M so it sounded terrible.
I like Rose!

I don’t like Genevieve Elle but I DO like Genevieve Ella. Plus, with an E middle name, her initials would be Gem, which is really adorable.

I think Eloise and Marielle sound just lovely with Genevieve because they are all French – they flow really well. I know there’s no rule that says you have to match the background of the first and middle names, but maybe take a good look at French names?
– Jeanne, Jeannette, Jeannine
– Elise, Denise
– Annette, Colette
– Danielle, Gabrielle
– Jacqueline, Josephine
– Aimee, Amelie, Emilie
– Adele, Isabelle, Michelle
– Adrienne, Helene
– Cecile, Celine

Yes! I am so happy to see that you chose this name – because it’s mine! Very uncommon, yes, but timeless. I’ve always loved it.
I agree with you that the middle name should be shorter. My middle name is short (one syllable, really) and while I’ve never liked it, I think something shorter and punchier is good. I vote “Elle” 🙂 Congrats to you on choosing your baby’s name!

Such a lovely name! Genevieve Anne Murrey sounds nice, but the “Anne Murrey” part makes me think rather directly about Anne Murray, the singer.
Also — do a search in Google for “Genevieve middle name”. A few other people have had the same query in naming their daughters and there are various threads in various places with suggestions, if you want to up the number of options.

Genevieve is gorgeous! I agree that the middle name should be short..

I keep kicking the name Genevieve around in my head if I end up having a daughter. Marie would most likely be the middle name my husband and I would go with. 🙂
