    eastcoaster:  I really love Madeline.

honestly I know three people just off the top of my head who have dogs named Madison! That’s the only reason I personally wouldn’t use it.

    Congratulations on your baby girl!

I love Madison, it was our top runner if we have a girl, but it just seems like everyone is naming their kid Madison lately so we opted for another girl name.  I still voted for Madison though ๐Ÿ™‚

I have 2 friends who have daughters named Madeline. One is spelt Madilynn, and I can’t remember how the other is spelt – but she refers to her more as Maddie.

I love the names Madison and Madeline but voted for the latter. I think Madison is really trendy at the moment but Madeline is a timeless name. Theure both really cute though.

I love Madeline, it’s classic and pretty. I really dislike this recent trend of spelling traditional names with unnecessary y’s and i’s, I feel like they will look very dated in a couple decades.

Definitely Madeline. I’d personally go with the spelling Madeleine, but both are pretty.

I don’t like Madelyn for the same reason I don’t like Kathryn as opposed to Katherine – I think the extra y’s are unnecessary and make the name look dated, as PPs have pointed out (for example, Kathryn gives off an ’80s vibe to me, while Katherine is timeless).

The name Madison, and the whole “last name as first name” trend in general, is going to look very dated in a few years, IMO – to me, it’s dated to the 2000s already.

I love the name Madeline.  It’s in my top girls names. Madison seems quite popular at the moment.

I’ve always liked the name Madison, but it’s so popular now. It brings to mind the really young girls in high school who got knocked up and picked doll names for their babies. It’s beautiful, but it was trendy and I think the trend is over.

Madeline though! I’m not even sure if I’ll ever have kids but that name is now on my list! Lol. It’s gorgeous, traditional but not common. Elegant and sophisticated. I would imagine her parents as smart, easy going people. Not a teen mom or a hippie.

good luck with choosing a name. All are pretty!

Are you pronouncing Madeline just like Madelyn? If so, that got my vote. But if it’s Mad-eh-line then I go with Madelyn. My niece was born yesterday and her name is Madeline (Mad-uh-lyn) and it’s such a soft and gorgeous name.
