I just thought I’d share with everyone that my Ob/Gyn said to use VEGETABLE OIL as lubricant!
She said that a lot of the over the counter lubes have properties in it that can slow or kill sperm.
Seems verrrry weird to me but hey, whatever works! Had to share!

I’ve heard of people using egg whites too. Seems a little gross to me. There’s a lube out there called Pre-seed (I think) that is made specifically for TTC.

Huh. I’d heard using actual eggwhites works too. We used Pre-Seed because it’s actually supposed to help sperm live LONGER. So, yes, some OTC lubes that are thick can smother sperm, but some are made specifically for that. You pay for it, but it’s probably a little tidier than trying to get vegetable oil out of the sheets…

@canadablue: I love Yes Baby! Only I wish it came in a tube rather than applicators.

We used Preseed the month we got our BFP. It also gave me a nasty yeast infection in the process…but…….worth it nonetheless.
I can’t imagine using vegetable oil!

Ooh, not sure I’d want to use just regular vegetable oil to go into any body parts aside from my mouth, through food. What we did use was Pre-Seed and we got a BFP the one and only month we tried it. Incidentally, I also got UTI around O but I’m not sure if the Pre-Seed did it… it could’ve been just all the “holding everything in after BD” but the docto said that whatever medication I took wouldn’t have been harmful when TTC and at the time, I wasn’t even pregnant yet.
Good luck with whatever you decide to use!

@hergreenapples: We got our BFP the first month using preseed too!
Thats interesting about vegetable oil, a lot cheaper than preseed!

I have heard of using coconut oil, but I personally hate the smell of most commerical vegetable oils, they remind me of McDonald’s! Not a turn on.

I love all the stories of people getting lucky their first month with PreSeed. This was our first time trying it and I’m still just 4DPO, but my fingers are crossed.

@angelicwink: I did too, which was why I decided to try it. I figured I had nothing to lose. Since you just started using it, I’m not sure how much you’ve actually been using but if you’ve always had decent EWCM (mine was okay), you don’t need to use a lot of Pre-Seed. Of course it depends on the couple using it, but I read around the boards that they used half or less of what was suggested and it was plenty. That was true for us. I think we only used up to the first line on the applicator and it did the trick. 😉

we use preseed. we were only using it at the entrance, but i think i may try using the injector thingies and get some inside. i think i’m not making enough fluid for the little dudes to swim in.
