I’ve been through something a bit similar. We were measuring 2 weeks behind and had a poor heartbeat though…so we knew losing the baby was inevitable.

The fact that the baby has a strong heartbeat is a good sign…being cautiously optimistic is how I would put it too. I wish you lots of luck with your sonogram tomorrow and hopefully everything is ok!

I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. Hugs to you and your hubby. I have not been in your situation but my heart goes out to you. My 1st pregnancy measured behind at 7 weeks, but I don’t even think my LO had a hb yet, just a fetal pole (so it must have been way behind). I ended up miscarrying the day after the ultrasound. I think the fact that your baby is growing and has a good heartbeat is a good sign, so I would be cautiously optimistic as well. I’ve heard it’s easy for early measurements to be off. Your doubling hcg is also a good sign.  I hope you will get good news tomorrow. If not, maybe it will help (somewhat) to know that many people are more fertile after a loss. That’s not the case for everyone, but in my case, we got pregnant the next cycle that we tried after our loss. I’m crossing my fingers for nothing but good news for you though! Keep us posted.

From talking to my OB and reading some books: they also say that if you are within a 1-2w range ahead of behind you’re more than likely O.K. It’s when you start measuring 3-4w behind or ahead that they fret.

I’m sorry you are ven having to THINK about this though….I hope that strong heartbeat pulls through for you!!! *hugs!*

So sorry that you are having to worry about this!  From what my OB and the sonographer told me, there is about a week’s margin of error in the measurements- just the slightest twist of something can change the measurement by millimeters, which can get you off by quite a bit, especially early on.  I’m measuring a week ahead with one baby, and I know the HOUR that they were conceived, thanks to IVF.  Hope things are looking good tomorrow and you can be done with THIS set of worries!  (I have a different worry every weekEmbarassed)

@thesaurus rex:  Wonderful news! 🙂 “A few days” sounds well within the margin of error for an early ultrasound. Congrats on graduating from the RE!

Definitely good news! And my little one’s heartbeat is at 150 as well and I’ll be 29 weeks this week. So all around great news. Just keep doing what you’re doing! Sounds like your little one is a fighter!

@thesaurus rex:  THat is great news!! My first two betas were on the low side of normal and we were extremely worried. (We had to undergo IVF route after almost 2 years of trying) Then his size was on the smaller size, but he caught up in size within a week or two. I’m now 27 weeks pregnant and he’s a big boy and healthy. I totally remember being so nervous at the beginning as you are, but graduating from the RE to my OB was a big milestone. Congrats! Go celebrate tonight!!!! I remember my DH and I went out to dinner that night and were so giddy. So happy for you!
