That’s super early to be worrying about the baby being “small”. Sounds more like they’re just dating a week behind where you thought you were. That heart rate sounds great!  When you go in for your anatomy scan (18-20 weeks), then you’ll have a better idea of how your baby is measuring.

Congratulations!

It’s more likely your dates are a little out than the baby is measuring small so try not to worry! Hearing a heartbeat at this stage is v positive!

mrsm2017 :  mine measured 6 weeks, just barely, when i thought 8. I started a similar thread at the time.  He’s standing beside me now being a little weirdo. Its hard not to fret about it but you were probably just mistaken in your counting. Positive thoughts!

That’s way too early, you likely just have your dates off – it’s okay! A heartbeat is a great sign.

Also, my daughter measured on the small size the whole pregnancy – towards the end they even made me do an emergency ultrasound because they were worried about it. She was born a healthy 7lbs and continues to be more on the petite side even at 7 months old.

mrsm2017 :  it’s likely that the dates are off, but even if they aren’t babies grow at their own pace! My daughter consistently measured ahead and we knew the exact moment of conception because she’s an IVF baby and it was done in lab. She was born 2.5 weeks early and just shy of 7 pounds. Babies are going to do what babies are going to do.

mrsm2017 :  my baby measured a week behind and I knew my dates weren’t wrong because I did iVF. I was worried too, but in time he was only 3 days behind. I was told that it’s so hard to measure accurately at this stage, and one tiny measurement out can throw the age out by a week. The heartbeat is super positive so focus on that. Can you have another scan in a week or two if you are worried?

mrsm2017 :  my current pregnancy I went in at what I thought was 7+1, baby measured 5 days behind (6+3), then I went in a week later at 8+1 and baby measured 8. At around 12 weeks baby was measuring a day ahead. I was quite worried too especially since I had a MC in July. But so far baby is doing great! I’m 18 weeks now.

Try not to stress- it’s likely that everything is fine given the excellent heart rate. My baby measured 5 days ahead at one early ultrasound, then 2 days behind, then ahead again…by the end of my pregnancy she was consistently measuring small, but came out perfectly healthy and has packed on the lbs ever since.

Can definitely be normal. With my son I went in thinking I was close to 10 weeks and was actually only 8.5 weeks. I think I ovulated late in the cycle or something because my periods were fairly regular. Your timing was probably just wrong, they’ll go off how the baby is measuring at this point.
