I don’t just like it , I love it and your being Greek makes it culturally relevant too.
As for people who aren’t familiar with it or its origins or who ( weirdly ) thought it was a boy’s name , or a sci fi name (wtf) well so what! I see there was even someone who thought that it would be better for you , Greeks , to drop the Greek name and go for the Roman equaivalent , totally unalike in sound and form.!!
There are absolutely tons of terrible names out there , some of them names of objects , some of them kreativelee spelle4d , apostrophes randomly scattered ….
Artemis is beautiful , in history in sound , in everything

Reminds me of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia lol

I, too, think of Artemis Fowl, who was a boy, though I am aware of the origin of the name. Either way, I’m not a fan.

newbee592 : Yes! Me too. Artemis Dubois! That alone makes it a hard no for me.

I like it but hate “Artie” which i think she would be called 99% of the time.

Artemis is a lovely name for a girl, I prefer it to Diana x

Sounds pretentious to me,but *shrug* but it’s your child and you can name him anything you want.

I know an Artemis. Fine name. She doesn’t get nicknamed and prefers the full name.

Makes me think of the cat Artemis from sailor moon lol

I actually like the name Artemis and consider it a unisex name. I think you should go with it if both you and your spouse love it.

Like many other pps, I thought this was a boy’s name. I’ve never heard it as a girls name. I was actually surprised when I opened this thread and you said you were considering it for a girl. That being said, if you love the name, use it!

I’ve heard worse. Trust me, after I learned my friend named her baby Puff, everything feels like the baby name world is on fire. Kill me.
Be prepared for people to call her Art tho, which is commonly short for Arthur and therefore can feel gross for a girl, especially as a preteen. Always keep nicknames and initials in mind when picking a name – I beg you. That’s all that matters.

At first I thought it was one of those made up names, and I thought it was a boys name (like Artie?), it makes much more sense now that I’ve read your post, but realistically, I think she’ll end up having to spelt her name for people and correcting people a lot. Not saying that’s good or bad, and it can always happen with names you think people should know how to spell, but just something to consider as it could be annoying for her (coming from someone who always have to spell her name lol but I have no one to blame, I picked my own English name lol).

I like the name, but not sure if I would use it in real life. But then again, you’re Greek.
I know it’s a girl’s name (Greek mythology back in high school). Oh and because I’m a geek, the name reminds me of the white cat (who’s a boy) in Sailor Moon lol. And his female companion name is Luna. Their daughter’s name is Diana. Sorry off topic haha.
