It sounding masculine could well have been the point. She was a virgin hunter goddess. The opposite to what a good Attic (most of our evidence is from Athens so won’t generalise about Hellenic women of the time) woman should be.
I don’t mind a unisex sounding name but I personally greatly dislike Arty as a nickname, and you know that would happen.
