I like Colt! It makes me think of horses. I can’t help but be one of those annoying people and suggest Colton with a nickname of Colt, but it’s just a thought. Feel free to ignore.

If you plan on having more kids, I strongly recommend being facetious and say something like, “We are trying to decide between Captain America and Optimus Prime.” (or if they are of an older demographic “Fonzie and Han Solo”). Usually people either laugh and drop the subject or try to think up something worse to suggest. It can turn into a baby shower game!

As for Luke, I would just tell everyone that he is Luke Skywalker until he’s born and then name him whatever you like better, be it Colt or something else they haven’t ruined for you with their ridiculousness.

People call fetuses all sorts of weird things. My bestie called my baby Beanie Bear and tried to make it a thing. Thankfully they don’t remember any of that.

MrsAl14 :  I would be pickign a new name and not telling them. This is why I refuse to tell anyone our name. I could careless if anyone hates it, but I am not letting them rain on my parade. Its crazy how with coming close to my due date (im less than a week now) I keep getting people getting on my case about the name and guessing and trying to pass there name off on me as if I want to use it. Its so annoying. Also I would be so annoyed if they are trying to use a different name than Lucas. Poeple suck.

kimmacph :  I know you can’t really call “dibs” on a baby name, but this would make me so angry. What are the odds she would have picked that name if you hadn’t told her you wanted it?

MrsAl14 :  What if you named him Colton Lucas, Colt for short? No one shortens a middle name so the “Luke” thing wouldn’t last. Also I agree that Colton is better than Colt because he can go by the nickname as a kid/with friends and then the full name when he gets older.

Congratulations on the baby!

mrsptobe2017 :  Right?? Yeah I was pretty upset with her for awhile.. My brother said it wasn’t his choice. I’m over it now, he’s adorable and Lucas suits him. But i’ve learned my lesson and will never tell anyone my baby name plans again

Wow they sound really rude and obnoxious! I would absolutely be using another name.

So I’m not ttc or pregnant yet but I know I won’t be deciding the name until birth for this very reason! People are so rude. I’m sorry they’re ruining the naming experience for you 🙁
