jennayhoang: I think it’s a bit tacky. My feeling is that things like this really interrupt the “flow” of the evening. Guests already have to sit through speeches, first dance, father/bride and mother/groom dance, etc…I don’t like the idea of throwing more “look at us!” on the pile. I might be in the minority, though.

jennayhoang:  Cute idea but don’t make it too long!

jennayhoang:  We had a cinema at our venue and wanted to use it, so my OH made a slideshow of us throughout our relationship (which also included pics of a fair few of the guests), set to ‘our’ songs which we showed in the cinema. Everyone came to watch it, and people really liked it.

I think having it playing in the background during your first dance would be cute 🙂

jennayhoang:  We did this but how we did it was on a digital picture frame set up by the card box/table for presents. This way it played throughout the reception without interuption and people could stop and watch it as it played. It was a huge hit

I think playing it during your first dance may distract from the dance itself, but to me still sounds very cute. I’m kind of a sucker for those things. You could also just have it set up to play throughout the evening if your reception area has a place for things like that. I know people will have engagement pictures set up or things like that.

I have also seen where you use the pictures at each age (1 year olds) as your table numbers and I think that is also super adorable. (Again, I’m a sucker for that stuff). Although we didn’t do it at our wedding, I think it’s a neat and unique idea.

I am so sick of these at weddings! Sorry but this is just so tacky and awkward.

I think it’s cute! I saw it done at a wedding once as well, and I loved it. It’s a nice personal touch 🙂

jennayhoang:  our ceremony was in a theater, and had a projection screen that dropped down.  My Darling Husband made a video and it played during cocktail hour and the reception.  People could choose to go watch it or not.  Everyone LOVED it, I was a bit surprised at the reaction.

It sounds like you really want to do it, so do it!

I tend to like these things only if the person I know getting married is a really really close friend or family member. I wouldn’t ever have one because it seems self absorbed to me but I guess weddings are supposed to be self absorbed so what the heck!

I think it’s cute. My mom made one for us, but I honestly don’t know if it was played at our wedding or not. Lol The plan was to play it before the ceremony and have it playing during the reception. Basically just for people who want to watch it.

We made a slideshow like what you’re describing and played it on the projector in the church before the wedding started.  That way it gave you something to do while waiting for the ceremony to start.
