lucieslist.com does a great job of telling you what you need and what your options are.  I’m pretty sure they even compare diaper brands.  gl!

I tried both and hated Huggies….I found I could always smell it the second my son peed, whereas Pampers seemed to mask it better.

I prefer pampers. Some things are worth a little more money.

Huggies leaked on my first-born, but I know people who had the same problem with Pampers. It depends on the baby. But I actually prefer Target brand.

We used pampers when dd was little, but once she started moving around the huggies fit her better. It’s just trial and error. I wouldn’t buy a huge stock pile of either. Same with wipes. Dd is allergic to two different kinds so I’m glad I didn’t buy a million of them.

As pp said, check out lucie’s list for registry help. I found it super helpful.

I’ve heard great things about Costco diapers, but our little guy is still in preemie diapers so I haven’t tried them. Once he can fit in Costco size, we’ll be switching to cloth. But multiple people have said Costco has good diapers for what it’s worth.

Pampers smell worse then Huggies to me.

I agree, check Lucie’s List.

mama2bee71 :  meet your baby before you decide on diapers! Some fit particular body shapes better than others. We had more success with pampers than huggies because they fit around chubby thighs better. Also huggies have this annoying habit of the tabs folding back in on themselves before you can roll the poo up lol. FWIW we just tried Luvs and I think they are my favorite so far – they fit her thunder thighs, hold in all the mess (and man can that girl fill a diaper…), are cheap, and are nice and thin so they don’t take up much space in my bag.

I’d register for a pack of size NB and size 1 just to get you started since you don’t know how big your baby will be. Definitely won’t need size 2 to start unless your family is known for birthing 16 pound babies (and if that’s the case I’m sorry lol).

MsPlucky :  The only time we’ve had diaper leaks were with the Costco diapers 🙁

OP I really like Huggies and you can find them cheaper than Pampers on Amazon. If you have a shower, you should have whosever hosting do a diaper raffle so you can try out a bunch of different kinds. I wouldn’t bother registering for any.

One thing we didn’t register for but ended up buying outselves and using a lot was the boppy lounger.

saratiara2 :  When our current stash is gone, I was going to try Costco! Glad to hear they’re good!

Pampers swaddlers were the only diapers that worked well for my baby. Everything else gave her diaper rash, even with frequent changing. Huggies gave her diaper rash moreso than any other brand. I don’t think it would hurt to register for diapers…

We love the Costco wipes. Most wipes were too wet for newborn/infant poop. The Costco wipes were perfect, but now that her poops are more solid and dry, I’ve been liking honest wipes as well as seventh generation.

I got a Snuza hero for some peace of mind (it’s a little monitor that clips onto their diaper and an alarm goes off and if it doesn’t detect movement for a certain amount of time). Cost is about $100.

We got a simple baby monitor with video and although we did not use it as much as we thought we would it was pretty handy early on.
