I was thinking about your birth story last night and had one question: you said that when you asked for epi, your husband said “no” — which was awesome, and I had that exact same moment in my labor and definitely needed to be told it wasn’t ‘allowed.’ Did you guys have a ‘safe word’ that meant “no I’m serious this time; get the anesthesiologist in here STAT!”?

@MrsRugbee:  Omgosh, you poor thing! I’m so glad you were able to have your natural birth you wanted though, even if it didn’t go exactly according to plan. Congrats! Hope you and baby are doing great! ๐Ÿ™‚

Im 38 weeks 5 days and really want a natural no interventions birth and I just wanted to say thanks for sharing your positive story! It feels good to know you did it without an epi even with using pitocin. Youre a strong woman and I hope I can be just as strong!

@iarebridezilla:  Ooooh. I like the safeword idea for the epidural. I’m going to bring this up to DH about when we do our birth plan.

I’d also like to do this when I occasionally ask him to keep me accountable with my diet. It’s great that he can tell me no, I can’t have a second heaping portion of lasagna and no, I can’t hit up the drive-through for a McFlurry, but sometimes it’s just too dang serious. PINEAPPLES!

@MrsRugbee:  you’re my hero! I also had an unmediated labor but always said if I needed pitocin for any reason all bets were off. I also did castor oil but luckily I was cleared out before I went into labor (pretty much the only good thing about my castor oil experience… I didn’t poop during labor!). She is gorgeous! Congrats!!
