Thought it would be helpful, to some bee’s who have questions about baby showers and gifts, if some ladies wo have already had their showers pipe in and offer some advice from thier ezpeierence. i just had my baby shower on Satuday so everything is still fresh in my mind.
-Diaper raffle one thing that was great from ym shower was the hostesse’s did a diaper raffle where everyone who bought diapers there names were entered itno a drawing for prizes. we had so many prizes that everyone who brought us diapers won a prize! We got a TON of diapers. probably around 15 packs! sooooo helpful and all differnet sizes!
– bring a book for the baby instead of a card. this was great because our baby got a bunch of books. i wa really excited for this becuase i plan to read to him all the time 🙂
– registery- not a lot of people bought of the registery… i registered at Babies R us and amazon. Had around 40 people in attendance and registerd for around 100 things…. about 20 things were bought off the registery. that was a little frustrating but still so soooo thankful for what we got!
– WE got a TON of clothes (Seriously, i knew we would get a lot but WOW did he get a lot of clothes!) luckily, most of them were pretty cute 🙂 to be honest thugh, we cuold of used more things off the registery then clothes thogh.
– TONS of body wash, baby lotion, pacifiers, bibs, baby wash cloths, wipes and teething toys…all things we neeeded nad will get used. (seriosuly have enough to last years!)
ladies have any other tips?

I have found that most people buy off the baby registry. They tend to buy clothes because they are so cute to pass up and a lot more fun to give then a nose cleaner or bottle brush. I think diaper showers are a great idea because they are such a need and expensive for the new parents. And some people give diapers and a little something extra like a lotions etc.

I went to a shower once where the hostess had bought a bunch of onesies of various sizes and a bunch of fabric pens which the guests then used to decorate the onesies. Super fun and creative.

@BothCoasts: We did that at my SIL’s baby shower. It was a huge hit. We had onesies in all different sizes (both short and long sleeved) and provided puffy paint for the guests to decorate with. They ended up with like 20 really cute onesies.

i went to a shower once where the hostess passed around the baby;s first piggy bank and everyone just dropped in some coins. then they made it into a game where everyone had to guess how much was in there. some might see it as “money grabby”, but i thought it was cute. And i only put like 50 cents in there. i saw some other guest dropping one and two dollar coins though.

ooo a diaper cake is also a really good idea, my friends made me one, with 200 diapers in it.

We haven’t done this one yet. But my friend wants a Texas Hold’em for her shower. She said that her and her hubby went to one and everyone had to bring a pack of diapers to get in the game. They then played hands of poker. The hosts gave the winners gift cards. She said that the couple got lots of diapers and the guys enjoyed it! We’ll see how it turns out.
