weightwatchers152:  Are they registered?  My go-to baby gifts are a couple of onesies (at least 3 month size- couplse always seem to get a ton of newborn stuff that only lasts two seconds) and those alcohol breast milk detection strips.

If you feel it’s a gift grab, though, you could always just send some books and not go.

The fact that there’s no food doesn’t make a difference in the slightest, just bring a gift and skip the check if you’d like. Some couples set up shower registries; maybe look around for one of those? If not, babies grow fast, and I’m sure they’d appreciate some onesies/outfits in sizes other than newborn. Toys are also nice, and maybe even some board books for when the baby gets a little older and can enjoy looking at the pictures.

weightwatchers152:  I would look at the registry if they have one. If not, a gift card to babieRus is always appreciated by new parents!

I usually choose something from the registry.  Otherwise it’s a gift card to the store, that way they could use it toward a larger item they need but didn’t receive.

Something a lot of people don’t think about are higher sizes of clothing.  Some babies pop out already too big for newborn onesies, or outgrow them within a week or so.  Then mom and dad are stuck having to go shopping for clothes all over again.  Go up a couple of sizes and they’ll be ready if baby is big.

No food at the shower?  I think that’s a bit weird.  Or do you just mean they aren’t serving a meal?  Cause I feel like hosting is seriously lacking if they can’t be bothered to have snacks.  Oh well.

I also like the gift card idea or 6-12 month clothing.

weightwatchers152:  Not food or snacks and 3 hours… so “please stop in to drop us a gift…”?? Odd.

I’d bring diapers or a gift card.

weightwatchers152:  Not even chips and dip or a veggie platter with some soft drinks? That’s very strange.

I usually get something from the registry and then throw in a funny or cute onesie/hat as well.

Does it actually say “no food is being served”?

I would still buy from the registry. That’s the whole point.
