SeaOfLove :  good to know about the pack n play mattress!  I got a cheap wrap (not cuddlebug i dont think, but another off-brand from amazon) last black friday that I’m excited to use–one of my friends used a soft wrap from day 1 with her baby and it was so cute to see her little girl hugging on to mama while fast asleep from day 1.  She looked like a little baby koala or something hehehe. I WANT THAT.

My LO is 3.5 months now.  Here are my answers:

What’s your one most beloved splurge item? (Roughly $100+, let’s say)

Our fancy stroller (Uppababy Cruz).  I think its something that will last us years and its both pretty and so easy to push.  I think it was a great purchase.

What’s your one most beloved save item? (Roughly <$20, let’s say)

I was going to say white noise machine but then I realized it would be my answer to the next question.  So.. hmm.. oh, I got a pretty cheap version of the boba wrap  (https://www.amazon.com/Baby-Wrap-Ergo-Carrier-Sling/dp/B00OJVNSFA/ref=sr_1_9?keywords=boba+wrap&qid=1551840475&s=gateway&sr=8-9) and I like it more than my boba (I have.. 7? baby carriers? I think I have a problem).  Baby isnt super in to it anymore, plus he weighs over 15 lbs and honestly the total lack of back support makes this thing not your best friend once baby weighs a bit more, but it was a lifesaver when he was super little.  I would go shirtless and do skin to skin this way, but also have two hands to do thinkgs like brush my teeth.

What is one item you couldnt have made it to 1m without?

White noise machine.  Just got a cheap-o one on amazon (Ill mention it again next Q.. turns out I used the return function a lot hah.) but man is that thing gold.  GOLD.  DO NOT NOT HAVE ONE! (We didn’t! I was all like pfft how great can white noise be pre-baby.  Then I downloaded an app while in hospital and was like OMG WHAT IS THIS SORCERY.)

What is the one item you really wish you could have returned slash you regret choosing?  And a follow up: what would you have gotten to replace it, if anything?

– I got the ‘hatch’ baby white noise machine thing.  That thing is like $60.. but we realized it only connects to ONE phone.  My husband needs to be able to get the baby to sleep too, you know..  returned immediately and got whatever random cheap one on amazon.  Very happy with that decision.

– I got the owlet.  I returned it cus honestly we never ended up getting it on his foot.  Newborns sleep all the friggin time and when they’re not sleeping they need diaper changes and you dont want the owlet sock on when you’re doing a diaper change cus poops everywhere y’all so you take it off and then.. well.. it never gets back on.  At least, it didnt for us.  So yeah, return.  I can see how it’d be useful for others.  It just wasnt for me. (pro tip: buy on amazon if you think you may return it.  owlet charges a restocking fee if you purchase/return directly to them.)

I was gonna try and think of more buy baby just woke up so, gotta run!  <3 Happy shopping y’all.

Ok I thought of a couple more, and baby’s back asleep..

– I got a nuna pipa and honestly kind of regret it.  I wish I had save the money to purchase a fancy convertible car seat instead and just gotten whatever inexpensive bucket seat.  I do think having a bucket seat is nice!  But my kiddo gained weight super fast and went from 7.5lb at birth to 13.5lb by 2m.  And honestly, after 12 lbs or so the pound or two the nuna shaves off is really not that noticable, so it feels like a waste of money.  

But thats just me..

– rock n play.  everyone swears by this, but my kiddo really hates it.  With a passion.

– a swing.  again, other people swear by these.. my LO HATES it.  Will scream and scream.  I gave it away and my friends kid loves it and its the only way she can get her baby to sleep not in her arms. What can you do?

My main advice when purchasing baby stuff, other than the things you KNOW they’ll need (car seat, crib, stroller..) is buy it either cheap (FB marketplace, for example) or get it once baby is already here, so you can return it if you need to.  Because babies are picky AF.
