- Wedding: August 2013
We are pretty sure now that we’d choosing a country club reception venue. It’s sort of a destination wedding because it’s in a vacation town about 2-5 hrs drive or a quick flight from most of our guests… and I’m trying to decide whether to offer an on-site sitter.
We definitely want an adults-only reception because its going to be black tie and high-end, and there’s a fountain in the reception area (so not exactly safe for kids), and we want everyone there to be able to relax and enjoy a sophisticated evening. Our venue has a room that could be set up as a baby-sitting area, but my questions are…
What age kids should this be an option for? Would it be okay to offer it only for kids under 6 yrs old? My thought is that FI’s cousins who are new mothers might want to be able to check on /feed the babies – and their entire extended family will be at our wedding..
Will people even bring their kids to a destination/OOT wedding?
FI’s cousins will have a two 1yr olds and 2 yr old, a groomsman will have a 5 year old, they’ll all be driving up… my cousins have a 2 yr old and an 11 year old – but I’m not even sure they’d bother flying with them from across the country just to put them in the babysitting room – but maybe if they were otherwise hoping to make the California trip a vacation? I’m not sure how many other children… but trying to figure out “the rule” now…
