Have you thought of Key West…it is a great place and really fun downtown – beautiful weather, great beaches, open air bars, great for walking around and listening to music at night.  The allowing of open containers on the street is pretty fun : )

Also the travelers tend to be a good mix of families, couples and young professionals…so it is not too spring breaky.

I would vote for Cancun too.  But I’ve never been during spring break.  So I can’t answer if April is a bad time to go.

How hard do y’all party? I personally would pick some place that we could all stay in one place, such as Seaside, FL. It’s my favorite beach. It’s on the gulf of Mexico and you can rent big houses and it’s a blast. They have bars, but you won’t be out until 2 in the morning. More like midnights.

Try cottagerentalagency.com to see the houses.

    Oh I voted for NYC.

Mexico is just so dangerous! My friend just went there 3 weeks ago and she went on and on about how much crime they witnessed. Like, guns in tourist areas! Whatever you decide, be very careful.

I would recommend New Orleans.  I had the most amazing time there, and it is an awesome place for a bach party.  So much sightseeing and history during the day, and party hard during the night!

Between your two options, since I live in NY, I have to vote for Cancun because I love me some Mexico.  I would be scared to go because of all that’s going on there right now, but things may be different by April next year.

If you decide to come to New York, I’m working on a post right now on things to do!

I like Mrs. Bee’s idea of NOLA. It’s one of our favorite places to go for a long weekend.

To be honest I would not recommend going to Mexico right now, it is very dangerous. Our church used to go down once a year and build houses, but we had to switch to somewhere in the US b/c of all the crime.

I would try for a beach-type location but in the U.S. I liked the recommendations for Key West, New Orleans….very fun places from what I hear, and no worries about being in a foreign place, passports, other currencies, etc. It would also be a little cheaper than NYC. I would try to rent a house in a fun beach town. That way you have a choice between hanging out at the house and going out. In NYC it would be hard to have a communal place to return to—hotel rooms are not the same as having a whole house to your disposal!

Yeah seriously don’t go to Cancun right now. It’s not worth it, too much going on with the drug lords and everything. Not to mention the swine flu thing, though I’m sure that’s better now. I just had my b’ette in NYC. I didnt really consider it a destination bachelorette because I live in Boston and 1/2 my BMs live in NYC… the farthest anyone travelled was 3 hours. I had a BLAST, but if you are looking for something more vacation-y, go to the beach somewhere! I’d recommend something like Miami over Cancun. Or somewhere in Cali? Where do you live??

My Fiance and I went to Cancun for the first time in February/March this year. I’ve been to other places in Mexico before & speak Spanish, so I didn’t have any problems going to Mexico again. It was my FI’s first time in Mexico & he was hesitant, so the American friendly Cancun was a good option for us. Most people in the big touristy (re: Beach) area spoke English & were fine. We rode the city buses everywhere, even into the main city area, & it was fine. For a bachelorette party, you’ll have the most fun staying in a resort on the beach, close by some of the fun clubs (our fave club was The City). The water is amazingly blue, the sand is soft & white, and the weather was perfect.

Ok, one caveat…my Fiance proposed to me on Isla Mujeres, the island just off the coast of Cancun. So maybe I’m a little biased!!
