So after much debate, I am returning my (second) dress. Does this make me a three dress bride? Please, no. It’s not my fault the second dress did not work out; really, I would love to keep it, but it is just not what it was supposed to be. But here’s a pic of it on me (apologies for dim lighting and messy apartment) —
You can probably tell from the way it is bunching that it is just so huge. You can kind of see how the sleeves hang off my arms a little bit, too. You can’t see that there is so much extra fabric the zipper won’t lay flat on my back. I have the top tucked in because that is what I would have done with a sash over it. I love the look. I love it sooo much. Sigh.
So… can anyone recommend any dresses with organza skirts and lace tops that have at least straps if not sleeves? Please?

Is it impossible to alter the dress to your size? That’s unfortunate that it didn’t work out.

I am not sure, but I am not prepared to deal with it. I knew there would be some alterations — I was expecting to need the bust taken in and a hem based on the measurements she listed, which do coincide with the size label and the measurements the size should be according to the website. I suspect that more than one bride wore this for portraits, not just the seller’s friend, and that it is stretched out. I had actually been afraid it would be too small! I just think having the entire dress taken down an entire size or more is not going to be cheap. Especially as this is on top of the fact that there are pulls and a hole in the lace. It was $915, and my budget is $1k (give or take a little). The garment bag is ripped and dirty. The skirt is fine, but the lace looks so worn from all the snags and pieces sticking out. I just feel like I am not getting my money’s worth, even if it is Vera Wang.

I don’t know what your first dress looked like, but I agree that the Vera – while a gorgeous dress – is not making you shine.
Do you like any of these (seems like you have a great figure and could have something a bit more fitted…)?
