Hi, I’ve been engaged since January and have an amazing ring that’s valuable emotionally as well as monetary. A few months ago I went swimming with my sister and little baby and left my ring at home as it can be loose enough to shake off my finger when I’m cold and I felt naked without it. I’m thinking about wearing another ring for those times I would worry about damaging or loosing it, do any other bees do this? If so is it a similar style ring, lesser value? Or what? I like catching people glancing at my ring, bit vain really but until the swimming I hadn’t considered being without it and how special it makes me feel.

I usually wear a costume jewelery ring, we went on a cruise the following week after I got engaged, and I didn’t want to loose my ring or have it stolen in some of the more “sketchy” places we might be going. I wore an old costume jewelery ring, it doesn’t really look like my engagement ring, but it’s something to wear to not feel naked. My ring is also insured, but still it makes me more comfortable, it is worth quite a bit as well.

I were my RHR on my left hand in those situations, or just go ringless.

If I am at home and doing tasks, I go Ringless. I know a “stand in” ring is quite popular, but I’m planning on wearing my band only in questionable circumstances. My ring is insured, so I’m not as paranoid (I was crazy in the week or so it wasn’t)
Consider getting one of those ring “coozies” not sure what they’re called but they’re little pieces of plastic that fit on your ring back and wear if if it’s loose sometimes and you don’t want to be without it.
i wouldn’t swim with my ering tho…even now/if it fit perfect.

I wear my promise ring, which actually looks a lot like a wedding band. Its 10k white gold and the stones are cz so nowhere near as valuable as my diamond e-ring if something were to happen. I was wearing my promise ring for about a year before we got engaged on the same hand so my finger would feel totally empty without something!

shawna.darling4: yes I plan on doing the same with my wedding band too but as wedding is over a year away I was considering what to do, I gave a ring my parents gave me for my 21st I might wear that it’s a sapphire and diamond white gold wishbone ring very different from my platinum solitaire but if I bought a stand in ring my Fiance might think I didn’t like his choice!

Mojito77: I do a lot of things that just aren’t suitable for my ring (mountain biking, skiing, swimming, high ropes, etc.) So I have a flat claddagh ring I wear on those days. The issue for me isn’t actually having a ring on, its that mine is pave with a high setting and I’m terrified it’ll get bashed around or it’ll come off with my glove – aside from the swimming, everything requires some type of glove.
I actually love my stand in as much as my e-ring. It’s a nod to my FI’s homeland, it has a simulated ruby (in memory of my Nana) and its has engraving that we chose. It would be cheap to replace, but I love having it on. I wear it crown up right now, as that means you’re engaged. I’ll be happy to flip it crown down after we get married, but I don’t think it looks as nice!

I have an exact replica of my ring but it is CZ and plated metal. It was the sample ring they use at the jewellery store to showcase rings since my friend owns th jewellery stoer we got our ring at she just gave it to me. I have only wore it once when we went on vacation and when my actual ring was getting cleaned

I have a cz and silver stand in ring that is as similar to my real ring that I could get. I spent £10 on it! Lol I only wear it when mine is in the jewellers. I don’t take my real one off otherwise. I hate not having a ring on so needed a cheapy to wear

I bought a stainless steel (but sort of sparkly) band on Amazon for $15. Mostly I wear it for running so I don’t get sunscreen and sweat on my wedding set. My DH certainly doesn’t think I like it as much as my nice rings!

I wear both my ering and wedding band nearly all the time, but if i can’t wear the ering, I just wear the band alone. It’s very flat, small, and doesn’t slide off. If they were soldered or something like that, I’d probably just buy a plain gold band as a stand-in, as I’m a firm believer that married people should be marked as such (single girl holdover frustrations with ringless married men haha).

Mojito77: just explain to him how much you value his ring and choice and that you want to protect It. I’m sure he will understand.

Mojito77: Previously I bought a costume jewelry ring that looked very similar to my actual ring, but it turned my finger green! So instead, I recently bought a white gold 2mm band on Etsy that was $60. I like it so much more! Now when I don’t need to wear it in place of my wedding ring I wear it on my right hand because I like it so much!

Stand in set
Real set . If I am not wearing something I always feel like I lost them.
