@CanAmBride: oh! i will make you feel better 🙂 i had the same issue when i lived with my parents when i went back to school. i usually was the last one in and the last one out and my dad took a day off one day and i didnt know…so in the morning i went to back out and i was waving bye bye to my mom and she thought i was joking and getting close to my dads car…and then BAM! i hit my dads car.

it turned out to be fine because he had already had an accident with the front end of his car anyways and it only got the bottom part of my SUV and not the bumper…but MAN i felt like an idiot.

oh and i ran over their recycling bin too. so feel better! accidents happen and it doesnt mean you are stupid or a bad driver!

I totally have. When I was living at home still my sister came over. I was parked in the garage and she had parked in the driveway behind me. It was nighttime and I opened the door and since the garage was light I didn’t even notice the car. Slammed it into reverse and backed right into it. I felt soooo stupid! It happens don’t worry about it too much. Hope you and Darling Husband can laugh it off.

do NOT feel bad!!!  a month ago i was visiting my family and my parents asked me to swing through a drive-thru restaurant and grab something quick for my niece to eat.  i was not used to driving their big van and scraped the side of it on one of those yellow pole things that are supposed to guide people around the drive-thru.  made a huge yellow scrape and dent down the side of the van.  i felt like the HUGEST idiot and felt really bad for damaging my parents’ vehicle.

I did that to my brother’s car one night when I was visiting my parents. Got in my car, stomped on the gas because nobody ever parked behind me when I visit, and then, BANG! It didn’t do anything to my car and just light scratches on his. I have never been so embarrassed. Luckily, he’s pretty laid back and looked at and it and said, eh, I have worse marks than that on my car and let it go.

I’ve got a story that will make you all feel better! One day, while I was rushing to get to my dad’s house for christmas, I had to stop and get gas. I swung into the gas station, and saw a vehicle coming in from the other side and decided to try and beat them to the pump. I turned too wide and ending up smacking into a huge plastic container that had all these bottles of antifreeze in it. I hit the container right on the corner and the whole thing busted open, bottles of antifreeze going all over the place. I highttailed it out of there and got gas somewhere else lol.

I have done things like this before too. One time I was backing out at the ex bf’s parents house and hit their barn/garage(L shaped driveway back in to the bottom of the L), FREAKED out and hit the gas thinking I was in drive and slammed in to it even more LOL Felt like a total ASS!
