- Wedding: August 2013
I haven’t really been caught up with the whole dress ordeal, thinking I would be happy with most styles, but I of course have fallen in love with particular dress… and the designer only has one shop in Israel. Moreover, the price is about $3.5k and I’m on a super tight budget for our August 2013 wedding.
The question is — how do I get this or a very, very similar dress? I thought I’d reach out to you guys to see if you have any advice!
This is the dress (I’m not too picky about the front, yet):
Alternatively, I do like this, albeit not as much:
I’ve seen tons of similar keyhole lace or backless dresses, but the these are bold.
I have been toying with the idea of getting it custom-made in China and scouring wedding boards for experiences. It seems that lace – which I definitely want, as my other half will be wearing a kilt and we’re going for this rustic/vintage New England feel – is pretty expensive and Chinese dressmakers tend to opt for a cheaper fabric. However, in my amateur mind.. the design seems quite simple and hangs without much bodice support. I think that the spaghetti staps are what make the dress, as they sit right behind the armpit. Still, it is a risk.
I’ve also been looking around for a UK or US-based seamstress, but I’m in the process of moving across the Atlantic so I’m not sure I could commit to the fittings. What is a realistic budget for this sort of thing?
Lastly, I’ve been searching high and low, but if anyone has seen these types of dresses on preowned sites or even perhaps by another designer, please do share! I’m looking for something very, very backless.
Most grateful for your thoughts…
