I mean…are you really that worried about alerting everyone at the gym that you’re engaged/married? Lol nothing wrong with it if you want one, it just sounds like a frivolous expense to me?

I pretty much wear my e-ring & wedding band for all regular activities except for showering, and occasionally at the gym but it depends on what I’m doing (weights, cardio, etc).

When we were traveling abroad I’d twist my ring so my diamond was in the palm of my hand, it’s pretty unlikely that someone was going to rob me of it but I’d just gotten it and we were a little paranoid.

If there’s something I can’t wear my ring for (like when we went snorkeling, a strenuous hike that involves some climbing of rocks, etc) I just won’t wear it, I personally don’t care if someone can’t tell that I’m married for a day or so and I don’t feel “naked” without it so I’ve never considered getting a fake ring or one of those little silicone bands.

I specifically asked for a secure, low profile, durable ring, with a stone <1 ct, so that I wouldn’t have to worry about taking it off. If I really needed  to take it off for something, then I would rather just go ringless for a bit then have another ring to think about.

If i’m doing and activity that I don’t feel comfortable wearing my ring for I just leave it off, personally I find wearing a backup a bit pointless.

brideandblue :  I just have a silicone ring for the times I can’t wear my ring, and want to have a ring on. I wear it most days because I honestly cant feel it and I just don’t take it off. I work form home so only wear my actual engagement and wedding ring when we go out and do something. I would consider getting a silicone band if you want something for times you’re worried about damaging your ring/damaging your finger, especially for lifitng weights. DH has scratched his ring up horribly from wearing it to the gym. I always just wear my silicone one to the gym

I have one that I wear when I take really long trips, or travel internationally or something.  I’m too paranoid that my real ring will get stolen or misplaced or something.

I have some Enso silicone rings to wear when I’m working out, nothing wrong with wanting to protect your ring, especially with free weights/kb.  Plus, for traveling as well.  They’re less than $10, and lots of promos all the time!  I swear I don’t work for them, just a happy camper :p

brideandblue :  I just don’t know that I’ll like feeling “naked” lol.

Fair enough…but in this case, why not just take your ring off the next time you go to the gym to see how you feel before purchasing a backup ring? Sorry lol I swear I’m not trying to sound snarky, it just makes more sense to me to at least do a test run before spending any money.

I will be doing an enso ring, as do almost all of my friends. We all play sports/go to the gym and its more just a reminder to put your ring back on. I take mine off for volleyball now, and there have been times it’s sat in my purse for a day or two because I just forget about it.

brideandblue :  I’ll probably buy a silicon ring at some point for certain activities and when I’m pregnant, but have a hard time imagining another shiny stand-in ring.  It’s always seemed very strange to me.  The risk in getting robbed is as much getting physically hurt as it is valuables being taken from you, so why risk attracting anyone at all with some fake flashy garbage?  I think some people like the flexibility of wearing something different more than they care to admit.

I use a backup ring whenever we go to the beach or partake in any outdoors water activities. I also do when I am traveling out of the country. I rotate between a emerald or sapphire yellow gold ring (both bought used on eBay cheaply). I’m one of those women who feel naked without my ring.

My engagement ring is a beautiful 3 stone diamond ring with pear side stones. I am in the process of experimenting with round solitaires, I’ve always wanted a diamond solitaire ring, but I can’t part with my engagement ring, so… maybe a gift to myself or an anniversary gift! Anyways, I am waiting for a cheap CZ solitaire to arrive so that I can make sure I like the style on me and to try out a larger (1ct) stone on my finger size! This will probably serve as my cheap backup 🙂
