This will be my absolute last recap of all time! I had my wedding in Jamaica, my TTD, my honeymoon.
More recently my post-wedding bridal party photo shoot I did on the afternoon of the AHR. Finally, we celebrated backyard BBQ style with many of our closest friends and family who could not come to Jamaica for our real wedding. The people who were in Jamaica also came to the BBQ and we enjoyed our little reunion! Some of DH’s family also drove from quite far to join us, so it was really nice.
Darling Husband is a technology geek and we just happened to have a large screen and projector that made doing an outdoor slide show of our Jamaica pics a possibility, as well as a screening of our wedding video! Backyard was courtesy of my sister’s home 🙂
After the photo shoot in the afternoon where i got to wear my real wedding dress for an hour, i changed into the dress i wore my TTD. What a fun day for dresses
My “splurge” for this party was a cake! I know someone who does them on the side and she gave me a good price. I got 2 real tiers and one fake one. All chocolate. She tried to get me to get mocha icing and i was like, nope i want ALL chocolate! One of my lifelong wedding dreams was to have chocolate cake. In Jamaica, this was the ONE glitch of the day – i had asked for chocolate and only when we cut the cake did i discover they mixed up and made vanilla! It still tasted awesome and was decorated so nicely i decided not to even say anything to my WC after as it was not worth it….but for my AHR, i knew i was having chocolate cake!!!! And OMG, did it ever taste GOOD. Good meaning freakng awesome! I am not even a big cake person (i prefer cheesecake), but we had half a tier leftover and i ate it in like a week. i couldn’t get enough! Interesting too as I always see people write about how they hate fondant…i LOVED it. sooo chewy and delicious. ok, enough about the cake. how about some pics!
To start, here are the personalized water bottles i prepared. i really wanted them for my welcome bags in Jamaica but didn’t know i could buy labels at the time and print on them. So for Jamaica i had bought water bottles with personalized labels already on them….then of course could not fit them in my suitcase! So i finally got to have my wedding water bottles! Yay! (for the record, Darling Husband thought i was a little crazy when it came to the water bottles, but it cost $6 for the labels, so he was okay with it). The little things just get me excited. Like water bottles and chocolate cake.
let’s get into some more food. Here we have my uncle and brother in law manning the BBQ, then some tantalizing pics of hot dogs and peanut butter sqaures that my Maid/Matron of Honor made:
ok, let’s go back to the cake! honestly, it did not look quite like the pic my friend had posted on facebook of her beach themed cake. You can definitely tell the top tier is fake since its too big. and i find it looks too pink (supposed to be sandy brown color)….BUT did i mention how freakin’ awesome it tasted?? In the end, I don’t care if the fondant was navy green, i just wanted more of it, LOL. and it was totally fun to do another cake cutting and toast. I also got to use my cake topper again which i loved.
My Bridesmaid or Best Man from New Zealand who could not come to Jamaica was super awesome. She actually organized the toast, got the drinks ready. etc. i don’t think we would have done it without her! she was excited to finally be my Bridesmaid or Best Man and wanted to help out however she could, and make the event as much like a wedding as possible. so sweet of her.
yup, the cake was chocolate, woo hoo!
the rest are people pics and the people were the reason we had this party….so I saved the best for last 🙂
Here is my best friend from high school. she wore purple and i never told her my wedding color. just shows we can still read each other’s minds!
here is me and my first friend ever (like since age 4!)
guests chilling and having fun – always a sign that a party is going well!
DH’s family hung out on the grass. you can also see our projector screen that we used for the slide show and video!
me, Darling Husband, and my aunt 🙂
i put my guest book out so more people could sign it!
Next up – my two besties! and the little girl is the daughter of my blond Bridesmaid or Best Man. Had she come to Jamaica, she would have been my flower girl 🙂 (so she was in some of my bridal party pics earlier in the day too!).
last, my friend who as part of her job works as a wedding officiant had a wedding that day, so she came late. but in a way, i was happy because most people had left and i got to actually hang out with her!!! she is the one who was supposed to officiate my wedding in Jamaica if she came….but we both didn’t realized i booked my wedding on Passover so she couldn’t come anymore 🙁 and it was too late to change it by the time she realized…..So she was also super happy to celebrate with us. i think it made her feel better about not being to come to Jamaica too. And she is another awesome friend i have had since high school!
