- Wedding: May 2014
I just got engaged December 30, and have been a wedding planning fool ever since. (I just needed the ring to seal the deal, since me and the boy have been together almost 7 years…) Here it is, all shiny and instagrammed:
So here’s where we’re at so far, I need a dress…Something like this from David’s Bridal would be fab:
I need a caterer for ONLY SIDES, and service, we are doing a pig roast…and already have the pig covered.
I need bridesmaids’ dresses–I dig this color: (courtesy of Megan Norris, via Facebook)
I’m having the wedding ceremony at my FIL’s house, they have a beautiful garden, pictured here:
then a reception to follow in my parents’ backyard.
How many of you have done backyard receptions? Anything I need to know? Where did you rent a tent, and how much should I budget for?
I’ll need linens, chair covers, and odds and ends to fill the space, but overall, I should save a lot since I don’t have to pay for the venue itself. I also, fortunately, have tables and chairs for all of my guests.
Another question: how do you nicely say “$%^& NO!” to people who really think they are helping? For example, my lovely Future Mother-In-Law is the sweetest, kindest person in the world, but bless her heart, she doesn’t really see my “vision”…and thinks it’s a bad idea for folks to travel 10 minutes (literally, only ten) to the reception. My fiance says don’t worry, but I want to know how to address it myself without seeming terse.
Any help or suggestion is welcome! Our wedding date is May 31, 2014, so I’ve got lots of time, but a limited budget, so spacing payments out will help my sanity. 🙂
